The ‘walker sighed as he considered his options. He was one of the last quasigodlike planeswalkers, the ones who flitted through realities like children skipping across stones. The new generation was little more than mages that could move to other universes with a concerted effort. Many of his contemporaries had perished in the Mending, restoring the integrity of the very fabric of spacetime. Thankfully, it appeared that fraying chronology had not made it as far as this particular Evaverse.
“Well,” he mused, “I certainly can’t show myself to those two. No telling how Shinji would react to seeing another human face at the moment, and showing up in a nonhumanoid form wouldn’t help either. Better to try something on the other end of the puddle.” Thus reasoned, the ‘walker moved himself to the other end of the LCL ocean in an eyeblink, landing on its shore.
Kneeling down, he sent a current of black and green magic to try and revive a few constituents of the sea, but all it did was make ripples. “So, they’re not dead,” he observed, “just trapped and sublimated.” His eyes transformed to orbs of gold capable of seeing in the magical spectrum, and he examined the energies of which the pool consisted.
Stunned, he shut off his mana vision an instant later. “One giant soul...one mind, unaccustomed to such a paradigm, and twisted by insanity as a result,” said the ‘walker in wonder. “I know of no spell that can undo something like this.” He sighed anew. Those in and of the LCL were likely irretrievable unless he spent years searching the multiverse for a cure or attempting to create one on his own. He could rebuild the civilization of this world with a great effort, even repopulate it with imported species, but that wouldn’t help the gigasoul that sloshed before him. As much as he hated to consider it, it appeared that he would have to settle for restoring Asuka’s mind and sending the two survivors to some other plane of existence.
