During Third Impact, the keyword was panic. Images of Rei Ayanami, genetic chimera of Yui Ikari and Lilith, the Second Angel, spanned the globe, disrupting AT Fields and leaving orange goo in their wake.
However, the bonded souls of Lilith and Adam were meant only for human AT Fields. Those of other sentient animals, such as a certain hot springs penguin, were ignored. Still, the incredible levels of death energy, psychic trauma, and his own stress provided the stimulus needed to ignite Penn-Penn’s planeswalker spark, allowing him to escape the world before the crap really hit the fan.
He'd spent years, decades training himself, exploring, learning, and mastering the five colors of magic that were his birthright. Once he’d felt sufficiently competent and confident, Penn-Penn Planeswalker began searching for worlds similar to his home. It wasn’t easy, as even when found, such worlds often exhibited such massive variations to his own that it was clear that either there was no chance of Third Impact here, or the only way to avert it would be to induce an even worse cataclysm.
Now Penn-Penn had finally found world close enough to his own to be recognizable, though it was just after the event he’d been hoping to avert. Still, the embers of hope for this plane may have been dimming, but they were still aglow. Now he just had to:
