There were jobs, like that one, which required a high level of education from the Tamer as well as specific pokegirls. Since he was just out of school and hadn't even taken a placement exam for higher education - he skipped those.

That one was a pass. Mining was necessary, mining was a stable job that he could spend his entire lifetime at. It would also pretty much lock down his possibilities for the future and wasn't something you'd normally consider for your first job.
Olympus Mons needs
Tamers and elemental subtypes for the
Observatory. Need Psychic types
as well. Contact M.Nelson.
Some ads, like that one, were puzzling in that Ash couldn't figure out why they were advertising - much less for that particular sort.
Opportunity for
beginning Tamers. McMann & Tate, Thetis Dome,
is seeking Tamers with Magic element
abilities. Preference given to anti-hex or
dispelling skills, but will train.
