In the world that the gods of the Shadow Realm sent the soul of Mahado to in order to be reborn; there were nine creatures of great power. These creatures, or tailed-beasts as the natives of that particular world called them, were not nearly as strong as the gods of the Shadow Realm. Mostly the tailed-beasts were considered an annoyance by most gods and high powered entities. However, this fact does not bring much comfort to the natives of that world who tremble with fear at the approach of even the weakest of the tailed-beasts.
However, there was an almost unknown fact about the tailed-beasts that scared the most powerful of the elder gods and goddesses. Hidden somewhere on that world in which these tailed-beasts lived, there was a rather grotesque idol hidden in a cave. This idol had the power to permanently seal seal all of the tailed-beasts within it so that the creatures could bother man no more.
While it is possible for a mortal man to harness the power of the tailed-beast that are sealed within the idol; that is not the idol's true purpose. The idol's true purpose, triggered by the uttering of the idol's true name when all 9 beasts are sealed inside it, is to use the power of all nine tailed-beasts to create the ultimate evil creature. This creature's sole purpose would be the destruction of any and everything it could find.
Into this world Mahado's soul was sent; his mission being to stop the creation of this ultimate evil creature. By chance, Mahado was born to one Minato Namikaze, the leader of a village of ninja. Originally the gods of the Shadow Realm had planed for Mahado's memories and power to awaken when his resurrection, Naruto Uzumaki, turned 16 years of age. However, less then a day after he was born, Naruto Uzumaki had the Kyuubi sealed within himself by his own father. What effects the Kyuubi's sealing would have on the Shadow magic; not even the gods themselves could know.
