Three's... Accepted? - Lessons: Worries; Lining Up Relationships [Episode 199851]

by Kender

Being in his class wasn't exactly Chitose's favorite place to be, as he'd never really been one for academics. Hell, he'd never enjoyed the idea of work, and was the sort of guy who tended to be more pulled towards peace and quiet, rather than any sort of 'excitement'. As a result, it was easy to have seen him staring out the window during a lesson, even though that did tend to get him into trouble.

Yet, he was now not looking at anything in particular as he waited for class to begin. Instead, his mind was more on personal matters, and those were actually quite important to him. Recent events had really changed the world around him, and if he was perfectly honest, they worried him.

Oh, he wasn't of the sort who was drooling over the prospect that the guys were going to be almost expected to take multiple wives. He'd never been much of a pervert, and wasn't aiming to take advantage of what was going on. Rather, he was actually concerned about what this would result in.

The fact of the matter was that he already had a girlfriend, who was someone that he really felt deeply about. She was lovely, caring, and... his homeroom teacher. Until recently, having a relationship with her would have been taboo, but he simply couldn't keep himself from feeling the way that he did. Mutsuki was the woman that he wanted to be with, and he knew that she loved him right back. From the start, she'd tried to take care of him, and once they'd kissed on the roof of the house, he had been certain that they belonged together.

Now they were being told that not only were the guys able to marry more than one girl, but that any woman that was available to them was someone that they could marry. Administrators, aides, staff, and even teachers, were now perfectly legitimate marriage candidates, which excited a lot of guys. But it bothered him, and not only because he knew that the woman that he loved, who was also an 'idol' amongst the male student body, would be pestered. The thing was that they were perfectly able to come out with their relationship, but wouldn't be able to explain just why they were already together, not to mention why she was one of five teachers, all having classes with him in it, living in his house.

Sour expressions were familiar sights on his face, but this was a rather harsh case of that.

"Hey, you," growled a familiar voice. "Aren't you going to do something other than doze off?"

"Eh? What's your problem this time, class rep?" Chitose asked with a scowl.

Fumitsuki put her hands on her hips and leaned in towards him. "Don't you give me that! Don't you realize what's going on?"

"Huh?"

"It's this whole plan of the governments! Things are probably going to get out of hand!"

"Don't tell me that you're against it as some sort of 'improper behavior'," he mocked, leaning back in his chair.

"There might be that, but we have to deal with what we have. The problem isn't that though. I just know that a lot of these guys are about to go running off to try and drag just any girl they can get over to the altar!"

"They could say 'no'."

"You don't need to tell me that!" the girl in the glasses barked, and took a loud sniff. "I'm just afraid that it'll cause all sorts of problems when it really hits them. Just imagine it. Some poor, defenseless young maiden, attending her classes, walking down the hall when some nasty lech goes and grabs her, so that he could have a quick wedding, just so that he can have his wicked way with her!"

"Sounds rather like you're fantasizing about it."

"What was that?"

"Nothing...."

"It'd better be," she grumbled.

"I just don't see why you'd come to bother me about it."

"Who else would I go to see? Besides, why wouldn't I come to see you anyway?"

Chitose snorted. "What about those two guys who always pop up around you? They seem to be always available."

"Like I want them to be around. They're nothing more than a constant source of trouble."

"It looks like they like you though."

"Not that I want them to, although I have expected them to show up," Fumitsuki muttered, and looked around with suspicion glowing in her eyes. "Those two have to be up to something."

For once, he decided to be wise, and kept his mouth shut, seeing as there was an aura of menace around the class rep at the moment.

"It really is something that we're sure of," the student with the 'B' on his forehead stated with certainty. "You only have to look at it to see what we mean."

"And there's just no hiding it. Trying is possible, but in the end, it just doesn't work," the boy with the 'C' on his forehead added.

"Looking at it, you'd almost think that it's out of some visual novel or something. The passion just simmers beneath the surface, and they just need a chance to let it show."

"At least on her part. Girls with glasses tend to get easily flustered, and show their emotions easily. Of course, she is close to doing it herself already."

That got a nod from 'B'. "She just has to deal with how the guy that she likes doesn't really notice such things."

"There is something there though."

"Once it happens, those two will have a romance that they would put into a book."

"So what you're saying is that this class rep of yours, Fumitsuki Nanakorobi is interested in this 'Chitose Hitose' boy," Akio Fujioka said to the pair before him.

"Exactly!" chorused students 'B' and 'C'.

"Hmmm...."

Concern was only natural for Mutsuki to show, as she was rather maternal by nature, and so she tended to dislike problems in people's lives. However, she was looking rather... reluctant to face much of anything as she walked down the hallway with her friend and roommate. "This is really going to have a chance of getting out of hand, now isn't it?"

"It could possibly go that way. Remember, these are energetic and emotional boys that we're talking about," Yayoi admitted, her high heels clicking along the floor as she strode along.

"That was what I was afraid of. I know that it's our job to guide them into being responsible adults, but...."

"Don't worry about it. You already have a chance as it is."

"I do? But, what are you...." the Japanese Classics teacher began, and then ducked her head as she blushed. "We haven't talked about such things."

"Well, don't wait too long. I may have to join you if my prospects don't get better."

"You shouldn't talk like that. With how wonderful you look, you shouldn't have any problems...."

"I know. But even then, I'm kind of limited in what I want."

"Oh. I see."

"Still, I'm not about to screw up what you may get. Who knows? We all might get the chance to be happy," the school nurse reminded her friend, and stuck her hands into her lab coat pockets.

"You have a point...."

"I thought so. But we really shouldn't dwell on this. For all we know, it can get better."

Mutsuki gave a resolute nod. "Yes, let's move along, shall we?"

Both teachers continued on together, moving along briskly... and seeming to move just shy of a speed that could be called 'running'.

"Miss Yayoi! Please, I need your personal care!"
"Miss Ichimonji! Give me private lessons, would you!"

With the horde of boys trailing after them in what could loosely be called two columns, they certainly had a reason to move quickly. Most women would have understood the reasoning for the concern, and wouldn't have wanted to be there either. Fortunately, the boys were merely pining away, and trying to talk their way into some sort of intimate situation for the moment.

Not that either teacher was willing to pay much, if any, mind to their pleas, while:
