Not that they were particularly allowing any real chance of harm come to someone like him. According to the government, young men like himself were needed for the future of the world. Considering the current situation, and the lengths that had already been gone to, he could see that things were a bit worrisome. But then again, none of the officials had seen anything wrong with gym or science classes continuing, and considering Satsuki-mama's training, and Kisaragi-mama's 'experiments', that could be a bit... dangerous.
Still, he was glad for being able to stay by himself. As it was, he had to figure out how he was going to be able to work things so that he could admit his love for Mutsuki in public. He was sure that other guys would likely bother all the girls in the school, including the Mamas, and people would likely be wondering who they might be dating.
Walking with his shoulders slumped and his head hung might have been normal for him, but this was lower than usual.
"What is with you?" admonished a familiar voice. "Don't you have any pride? And what's with this posture?"
"Am I a project for you or something, class rep?" he sighed.
Fumitsuki stiffened her own back and turned up her nose as she went to walk next to him. "Of course not. I just want to make sure that you're taken care of."
"Huh? You sound like you care...."
"Of course I care.... Well, I mean, you're my classmate, and we might even be friends. And I'm supposed to watch out for the other students in the class."
"Yeah, yeah...." Chitose grunted. "I know. Are you planning on walking with me all the way to the art room?"
"Why not? There doesn't seem to be anything that we need to worry about."
Minazuki didn't like to be put on the spot for anything. Oh, she could do well if she was in the spotlight, like at a sports festival, or during some sort of contest. But if pressure was applied to her, she tended to get to be a bit shy, even if it was self induced. That was more due to her need to have things go happily along, than any real fear.
As such, she was a bit uncertain as to what she should do at the moment. "I don't know what I should say...."
"It's really quite clear, Miss Rokumatsuri," Fujioka told her. "I was informed that you grew up with Chitose Hitose, and consider him to be an 'older brother' to you."
"Well, that's true...."
"I see. Then what I need from you is to find out how he feels about his romantic prospects."
"Ummm...." she trailed off, recognizing that she could accidentally mention the Mamas, and that might get them into trouble.
"This is important. I am trying to find out if he might like someone."
"Really?"
"As I've been told, it seems that Miss Fumitsuki Nanakorobi is interested him."
"Fumitsuki?"
Fujioka frowned at her. "It sounds like you already knew that."
"Actually...."
"Miss Rokumatsuri, I'm not trying to badger you, but I want to make certain before I do anything to put them together. Hopefully, I can get the best result for both of them. You do care about your brother, now don't you?"
"Of course!" Minazuki blurted out... and then ducked her head. "Well, that is...."
"You like him, don't you?"
"Ahh...."
"Hmmmm.... Since you clearly don't feel comfortable in discussing your brother...." the government official sighed.
"I like to talk about him, but...."
"I understand. It's not exactly easy to talk about the romances of someone that you care about."
"Yeah...."
A sympathetic grin lit his face as he considered just what he'd learned there. Something about the boy did apparently create a need to watch out for him, and a dislike of hurting him. In addition, it was clear that feelings for him ran deeply. But his 'younger sister' couldn't do more than she already had, which meant that there was only one way to go on with this inquiry.
Luckily, the school's filing system wasn't that hard to get through. If he was going to take this to the boy in question, he'd have to do this privately, and the records would point to a place where they could do exactly that. It was a bit forward, but the times called for it.
Wondering what sort of reception he'd get, Fujioka considered his options, while:
