Ranma glanced over to Genma and was barely able to refrain from shaking his head. While Ranma had to admit that his father's training had done him wonders; Genma was nothing compared to Ranma's real sensei. How Usa had found the old girl Ranma didn't know but Ranma was very glad that Usa had found Genkai. Thanks to Genkai's training Ranma had developed the skills that he needed to help Usa out when a daemon attacked their school.
Of course, finding Genkai had only been the first steep for Ranma. At first when Ranma requested training Genkai had flat out refused to train an 'upstart punk'. However Ranma hadn't given up on trying to get Genkai to train him; Ranma's desire to protect Usa had made him unable to accept no as an answer. Finally after several days of trying Ranma had eventually succeeded in getting Genkai to train him.
After that day when Genkai accepted Ranma as her student both Ranma and Usa would show up every day at Genkai's temple. While Ranma was going through the hellish boot camp that was Genkai's training, Usa would be around chatting with Ranma and Genkai. This situation lead to Ranma, Usa, and Genkai to grow rather close to each other. In Ranma and Usa Genkai saw herself when she was younger and Genkai had silently vowed to insure the couple's happiness. Usa and Ranma on the other hand grew to consider Genkai as a grandmother.
For Ranma, the entire trip to China had been a complete waste of time. Genma pretty much had nothing left of value to teach Ranma in the martial arts. Not even Genma's forbidden techniques, which Ranma had found out about during the trip to China by reading the scroll containing them, compared to what Ranma had learned under Genkai. Kijin Raishu Dan was pathetic compared to the solid blades of energy that Ranma currently was capable of wielding thanks to Genkai's training. Also, Ranma's energy blades had a lot more permanence and versatility then the Kijin Raishu Dan.
As Ranma glanced over to look at his father he once again saw that look in Genma's eyes. Something was half baked in Genma's pea size brain and Ranma really didn't want to be around when it blew up in Genma's face. Looking at the area around himself Ranma realized that he and Genma were approaching Nerima Ward. Ranma consoled himself with the fact that, if by some chance he couldn't make a clean break to Usa, he would be able to hide with the Tendos until the coast was clear.
