Setsuna's Fault - GCS: Natural Forces [Episode 203154]

by Kender

People had long been drawn to certain aspects of nature that seemed to resonate with their beings. One could stand at the shore and feel comforted by the sounds of the waves. Some would look at a fire and become entranced. Others would feel comfortable only if there was solid earth around them. And there were those who would close their eyes and listen to the wind.

In this world that had replaced all that Setsuna Meiou had known, that sort of connection had a more obvious appearance. For those who were capable of magic, the forces of nature weren't some particles that combined with each other and had energy reactions. Rather, they were the forces of nature that not only had power, but a spirit of their own.

In basic terms, it was a world of 'elemental' magic, where energies related to certain things like earth or air could be called upon to create reactions that could do some amazing things. Whether it was for a devastating attack, or a fine tuned adjustment to a cooking spell, there was much to be done with that sort of power. For those that had it, they were capable of great works that no normal person could manage. As a result, they were given positions of great status, as they had a special ability that raised them above any skill set them apart. A magic user tended to have a single element that were attuned to, and could manifest. This meant that if one wanted to have a fire burn underwater, it wasn't going to happen.

At the same time, one couldn't exactly say that it was impossible, as that same fire could become a storm when whipped around in the air. Such magical powers could be combined, but it had to be done correctly. Given the proper focus, the wind could either freeze a lake, or help it rain. As a result, one really had to keep on one's game, as the consequences of such activities would depend on what was done initially.

Oddly enough, Setsuna wasn't terribly surprised or bothered by this news. After all, she understood how Senshi magic could have corrupted the energies of the time storm. With attacks like the ones based in fire that Mars had used, there was plenty of elemental energy already floating around. Of course, that didn't mean that she wasn't annoyed by the fact, but she at least had one sign of what had come out of the chaos of what had happened earlier.

Sighing to herself, she hoped that everything wouldn't turn out to be even more screwed up, while:
