The scene seemed to briefly swirl out and when it cleared Ranma realized he was looking at a scene in a park. There was a little boy who looked a lot like him, and a little girl who was crying?
Time: Seven years ago
Place: Suwayama Park, KobeThe boy was scratching his head. "Well, I'm sorry you lost your Mom..."
"Who's going to take care of me now?" said the crying girl.
Little Ranma scratched his head some more, then came to a decision. "I will!"
"You?" asked the skeptical little girl.
"Sure!" said the little boy. "I'm gonna be the Lord of the Juuban Ward some day, and Pops tells me ya gotta protect yer people! So I'll do it!"
"You will?" the little girl looked up at him, hope beginning to dawn.
"Yep!" said the little boy, encouraged by the smile beginning to form.
Uhm. This is bad?
Other than you take the girl in and she's indebted to you? Other than she thinks you taking care of her includes taking her as a wife?
Oh crap. That doesn't happen often, does it?
Time: Ten years ago
Place: Utsubo Park, OsakaThe slightly-younger Genma looked down at his son. "So which do you like better? Okonomiyaki or Ucchan?"
Little Ranma looked up from where he was eating. "Both!"
"That's my boy!" agreed Genma. "Why settle for one when you could go after both? Wait. I mean, if you had to choose one or the other..."
"Ucchan can MAKE okonomiyaki, can't he?" pointed out Ranma.
Genma thought briefly about several things, then shrugged. "Ranma. Ucchan is a girl."
"No way!" said Ranma. "She's not girly at all. Ucchan's fun."
CLANG!
"Except when she's hitting me atop the head with some spatula or something," mumbled Ranma from underneath a spatula.
Genma sighed. "So what do you think, Ranma?"
"I think," said the boy under the spatula, "that maybe if Ucchan's a girl maybe she ought to be a little more girly so I could tell."
The little tomboy holding the spatula brought it back up then down again. Except that this time it impacted the ground instead of a little boy. Said little boy now running. After a brief moment of startlement, said little boy was pursued by a little crossdressing girl with a spatula.
Genma came to a decision. "Very well then. I'll speak to her father and make arrangements."
Oh crap.
Indeed.
That was about it though, right?
Do you really want to see all the incidents?
Ranma glanced at where Hayabusa, Hayate, and Ayane were in relaxed poses that he recognized as ones from which they could unleash mayhem in an instant if they detected a threat. Maybe later.
