In Bed with a Firefly: Continuing Talks [Episode 205283]

"How would you know what my type is?"

Setsuna blinked at the stark comeback and turned her attention to Hotaru. At seeing the frown on the young girl's face, Setsuna couldn't help but feel that she had done something wrong. "What do you mean, Hotaru-chan?"

"You've never asked me what I was looking for." The frown turned into a sniff as she continued. "You never asked me if there was anyone I liked, never asked me what I found attractive, never even tried to give me the Talk."

Standing to the side of the girl and the woman, Ranma hadn't bothered to pay attention to what the two were speaking about. He was still having a personal celebration at finally learning his wife's name. He still couldn't believe that he had managed to pull that feat off.

The impromptu celebration came to an end when he saw tears coming down Hotaru's face. He had no clue what was going on, but he could guess what part he was supposed to play when his wife cried. Quickly, he crossed the room and enfolded Hotaru in a hug from behind. "It'll be okay, Hotaru-chan. Don't cry." He then said a quick and silent prayer to Kami-sama hoping that he did the right thing.

For her part, Hotaru leaned back into the hug, allowing Ranma's arms to practically engulf her as she tucked her head under his chin. Reaching up, she placed one hand on Ranma's cheek. "I know, Ranma. You'll teach me everything, right?"

Ranma, not having a clue what they were talking about and praying that it was martial arts, replied "Of course, dear."

At this short exchange, Setsuna paled a bit, not wanting to think about what the two were referring to. Instead, she changed topics. "So, Hotaru-chan, why didn't you invite me to the wedding? Are you that upset with me?"

Hotaru shook her head as she continued to cuddle in Ranma's arms. "No, its not that. I called the house three times, but no one answered. I really did want you there, but we couldn't keep the priest waiting forever." At Setsuna's disappointed look, Hotaru asked "What' wrong?"

Setsuna gave an almost tired sigh. "I wanted to design your wedding dress. I always thought I had more time..."

"Oh," came the reply from the younger girl. "I'm sorry, Setsuna-mama."

Giving the couple a rare, true smile, Setsuna said "That's okay, Hotaru-chan." Taking a step over to the two, Setsuna pulled them both into a hug. "Congratulations, I'm so happy for you two. Welcome to the family, Ranma."

This, Ranma felt, was one of the most bazaar situations he had ever found himself in. Still, it wasn't like he could go all Ryoga on them or something. "Umm...thanks."

When Setsuna let go of the pair, Hotaru gently freed herself from Ranma's grasp as well. "Oh, Setsuna-mama, I have to show you a new lamp I bought!" With that said, Hotaru practically skipped from the room.

"You know," Setsuna said as Hotaru went through the door, "I didn't even know you two were dating. How long have you known each other?"

"Umm," Ranma glanced at the clock to check the time, before replying, "about a day, give or take an hour or so."

"What?" came the flat reply.

"Yeah, there was this pink light thing chasing me, and then it turned to attack Hotaru-chan, so I dove in front of her to protect her. Next thing I clearly remember is waking up next to her this morning married."

Setsuna frowned as she thought about it. "It sounds like some kind of love spell," she muttered, though not quite to herself. It was times like this that she wished that she used the Time Gates to search for things other than world destroying evils. It would have been nice to know that this was going to happen; she would have had time to make that wedding dress.

"Yeah," Ranma replied, "that's what I was thinking." Ranma trailed off for a moment before realizing what Setsuna had just said. "Wait, did you say love potion? Then you've dealt with this magic crap, too?!"

"Some," Setsuna said with a mysterious smile. "I'll look into this and see what I can find out. You seem to be free of it, but Hotaru seems to be under its influence, still. The real question, though, is what you are going to do about it?"

"Do?" Ranma gave a snort. "What do you think I'm going to do? I'm going to take care of my wife and find us a home. This is no different than an arranged marriage, I guess. Except that Hotaru doesn't hit me with heavy blunt objects."

"You have an experience with that, I take it."

Ranma nodded his head as though he was a wise man. "Oh yeah, way too much experience."
