Of course, that wasn't the fault of those living there, as they had been rather dedicated to the old ways. Traditions were things to be upheld, and she liked how they were able to keep some of it alive, like with the Tournament. Besides, it was nice to be able to enjoy the way that everyone treated her with respect and the upmost dignity.
"Great Grandmother!" called out a familiar voice.
Well, most of the Village held her in great esteem to the point of having some of them treat her like some sort of big symbol. On the other hand, her descendant Shampoo was most assuredly not of the group that overly stressed the whole 'awesome Elder' routine. That wasn't to say that the teenager would disrespect her relative, but that the girl was affectionate towards the Matriarch.
And so the old woman turned to face the oncoming presence of her great grandaughter. "Ah, how nice to see you, child."
"I am not a child," Shampoo protested, doing a small bounce in place, so that her sizable cleavage bounced. "I've grown up."
"I can see that."
"I'm glad that you understand... since it'll help make the decision for the plan."
"Is that so?"
"Basically, yes. I'm leaving the Village.
"Now, what are you doing?" Cologne asked once her "Are you running out on us?"
"No, absolutely not! I just wanted you to know about what I am planning on doing."
"Which is...."
The teenager let her features grow bright and cheerful. "I'm going to go search for Ranma."
"You do realize that he is married. And you shouldn't forget about acting properly."
"I understand that. But I'm only going to visit him. You see, I want to see this girl for myself."
Realization hit the old woman pretty quickly. "You are aiming to meet her."
"Basically. I want to see what sort of girl she could be if he is so loyal to her."
"Is that so? And here I thought that you were looking to find a husband."
"That too."
"Eh?"
"Where best to find warriors who know true respect than with that boy?" Shampoo admitted.
For a long moment, Cologne looked over her relative and measured her against what she'd known herself. As she did so, she recognized that the girl wasn't as tall, or as long in the limbs. However, one certainly couldn't deny that the girl was a beauty, and it was clear that boys would flock to be with her.
"Is something wrong?"
"Oh, no no," Cologne answered, and tilted back on her staff. "I'm just wondering why you have decided to go through with this."
"Have you seen what my romantic prospects are like?"
"True, true.... Then you wish to search outside."
"Exactly," Shampoo confirmed with a hard nod. "And if a boy like Ranma is out there, then there have to be other guys nearby."
"So, a 'Husband Hunt', now is it?"
"Wait a moment. I wasn't...."
"You're looking to get a spouse. That's the definition of it, child. There isn't anything wrong with it. In fact, they are almost like a tradition about the task as it is."
"I suppose that you're right," the teenager admitted.
"Just remember, you aren't the first one to come up with this idea. Actually, it's been done over centuries of our history, and many of them are actually girls like yourself just trying to find a husband for themselves."
"That's easy to understand...."
"There is at least one benefit to it though."
Shampoo frowned at her elderly relative. "What's that?"
"At least you won't have to settle for that fool who keeps chasing after you."
There was a moment where the two of them just stared at each other in complete silence before they both started laughing, aware of how hard it would be for Mousse to even get a chance with her, while:
