Ranma was prideful and obsessed with the martial arts. Naturally, he focussed his attention on that area. Even if he understood now that there were many things outside traditional martial arts that he did not particularly understand.
History altered and now his father had managed to lose his son several times over the course of their training journey. Once for seven years and when he'd reclaimed him, Ranma had been a very different individual.
Deeply tanned and more serious, taller and with thicker muscles than were usually seen on a boy of thirteen. Knowing more of pressure points and techniques, and demonstrating a strange style which he apparently considered more powerful and prestigious than the Saotome School!
It was called Hokuto Shinken, or the Northstar Godfist.
Of course when Ranma had the Great Will fired up, he had gone "kid in a candy store" and thrown other special techniques and styles into the bag, but he principally relied on and used that particular school. The Northstar was a close-in style after all, and he wanted ki blasts and ranged techniques as well.
So when past-Ranma returned to his father, he had learned several techniques from something other than Hokuto No Ken. Specifically:
