When the school bell rang, announcing the end of class for the day, Shingo shot out of the school like a bat out of hell. Interacting normally with his schoolmates was becoming increasingly difficult for Shingo because of the uninvited guest in his mind. The last class of the day had been exceptionally difficult since the normal teacher was out sick. Shingo’s class had gotten a twenty something fresh out of college babe for their substitute teacher. Needless to say, Schneider had been a bigger annoyance to Shingo during that period than at any other point in the day.
As Shingo was walking down the sidewalk he wasn’t really paying attention to where he was going. Thus it had come as a complete surprise to Shingo when he placed his foot down on the ground and he heard someone yell, “Hey! That hurt!” Shingo immediately started looking around to try and see who had just called out. The voice that he had heard earlier called out, “I’m down here!”
Even though Shingo was surprised about the direction the voice had come from, he looked down. After all, Shingo mused to himself, it wasn’t like this day could get any weirder. Correction, his day had just passed into a whole new level of weirdness. Standing there on its hind legs glaring nastily at Shingo was a large lizard. “Okay,” Shingo said with a look of worn out shock on his face. “This day is officially the strangest day I’ve ever had. First I find out that I’m the reincarnation of a powerful wizard, then I put with said wizard’s perverted commentary at school, and now I run into a talking lizard. NOW I’ve probably seen everything.”
The lizard in question’s eyes bulged out when he listened to Shingo’s rambling. Normally Laras would just pretend to be a normal iguana and he was surprised that he had blown his cover in such a manner. However, he was now getting the feeling that there was something familiar about Shingo. In a more polite manner the lizard asked, “Uh kid? Is the name of this wizard that you mentioned earlier Dark Schneider?” Shingo’s face immediately paled as he looked at Laras making it easy for Laras to get the answer to his question.
Laras just shook his head. The poor kid was probably barely holding on to his sanity. People of this strange age seemed to have trouble dealing with these kinds of things after all. Very quickly Laras made a decision and scurried up Shingo’s body to rest on the boy’s shoulder. From his new perch Laras calmly said, “Alright kid, I’m coming with you. I used to hang out with DS back in the day and I think I can help you deal with some of the issues that pop up when dealing with DS.”
Shingo looked at the strange lizard sitting on his shoulder and he suddenly saw the image of a little dragon in the same position. It was obvious to Shingo that things would just be easier for him if he took the little reptile along with him. He then said in a resigned, but still friendly tone, “My name is Shingo. Let’s just hope that my mom doesn’t mind you moving in.”
