Shingo was in a pleasant mood as he walked to school. Usagi’s magic lessons had gone off without a hitch so far for the past week. Well, Luna had been constantly complaining about the lessons and calling Shingo a ‘dark influence’ on Usagi, but he really didn’t consider that to be a hitch. Thanks to a spell that Dark Schneider had provided Shingo and Usagi with, they were able to cram a month’s worth of training into a single night. Even a person with over 400 years of experience occasionally needs more time to work on things. Speaking of his other half, Schneider was a continuous a pain in the butt. ((All I’m saying, kid, is that if you only use the spell we’d be in business.))
In a very annoyed tone Shingo mentally replied, ((If I’ve told you once, DS, I’ve told you a thousand times. No, I will not use Monster’s Loose to go pick up women at night clubs. That spell is only to be used for me to have a way to hide who I am when I fight supernatural threats, so that Mom and Dad don’t get grey hairs. Besides, I’m 11 years old, where would I take these women to? Or for that matter, why would I even want them in the first place?))
Due to how involved Shingo was in his conversation, he didn’t notice the pencil that was lying on the sidewalk. When he put his foot down Shingo stepped on it in such a way that he lost his balance and fell face-first onto the sidewalk. For a moment Shingo was dazed do to the fall, but he then started to push himself up. Just as Shingo was about to push up he heard a girl say, “Are you okay there?”
When Shingo looked up he saw a girl with short blue hair, who looked about his sister’s age. Whoever she was, she looked very concerned about Shingo as she stooped down to examine him. In the back of Shingo’s mind Schneider said, ((Cute face with great potential in the T and A department. Get her name, address, phone number, and look her up in a year or so kid. Since she obviously goes to our sister’s school by the looks of her uniform, maybe we can get Usagi to get some information on her.))
Thanks to his recently improved acting abilities, Shingo managed to hide his desire to strangle Schneider. He then got up, dusted himself off, and politely bowed. After he finished his bow Shingo said, “I’m fine, Miss. I was just too deep in thought and didn’t watch where I was going.”
Ami then smiled and said, “That’s okay, I do that all the time.” She then politely continued, “My name is Ami Mizuno and I’m new in town. Would you by any chance know where the local junior high school is? I’m supposed to start classes there today and, well, I can’t seem to find it.” After saying this Ami blushed out of embarrassment for forgetting where the school was.
Figuring that helping Ami out wouldn’t hurt him at all, except for having to endure some more of DS’s lewd remarks about how to seduce the girl, Shingo pointed to his left. He then calmly said, “Take a left at that intersection and just continue straight ahead. Your school is three blocks down. My sister goes there so I know the way.” Ami then quickly thanked Shingo and headed off to school. Shingo likewise continued on to school, praying that his teacher was better or that they at least got a new sub that didn’t look like e a supermodel.
