Nabiki could only grin at the tone in that voice, as it demonstrated an understanding of the facts, but a serious dislike of the ramifications. Sure, that didn't mean that her friend had anything against her, yet a woman would be only naturally put out by having her husband's father try to marry her spouse off to another girl. And of course, it was likely to result in a major desire for the wife in question to make her displeasure known to her father in law.
That concept rather pleased the brunette as, from what she knew of the Saotome patriarch, she didn't like him at all. If what she was hearing was true though, it was likely that Genma would get a serious... discussion going on all too soon. It might have been an amazing time of advancement, what with supercomputers and rockets going off into space, but the fact of the matter was that some things still held a special power, and that included indignant women.
"I'm afraid not," Nabiki finally said as she crossed her shapely legs. "It just so happens that Daddy is having his old friend come here with your husband for a marriage meeting with me and my sisters."
*"One which can't go anywhere,"* her friend muttered.
"Certainly. We have no desire to take your husband away from you."
*"That I understand. The problem is that he had never caught on."*
No explanation was needed for the Tendo girl to understand who 'he' was. "Quite true. Luckily for you, we know, and want, to refuse that little honor. We might like the jock, but breaking up our friends' marriage is... distasteful. And that's the lightest I can put it."
*"I'm grateful for that. If you weren't my friends.... But rather than worry about that, I've got other things to do."*
"Oh? Is that so?"
*"Of course. I have to go... explain things to a certain person as soon as I can,"* replied the young woman on the other end of the line.
As she heard that, Nabiki had to wonder if Genma had any idea that he'd gone and done a bad thing in annoying her friend,:
