Ranma vanished in an explosion just as Akane tearfully got ready to seperate his head from his body for the sake of the world.
Li vanished in a similar explosion from in front of his five sisters.
The hippo/camel explained that as one of the candidates was about to be murdered by his girlfriend, that human mating customs would have to be put aside for the moment and they would have to take them now.
The retriever units were very fast robots capable of grabbing something and then making accelerations that were part of the technological advantage they had over the Earthers. The sudden acceleration incapacitated Li and made Ranma (who was slightly tougher) quite ill.
The Shepherds announced the third name.
