As far as the higher ranking officers were concerned, it was a good day to debut their Enact. The weather in Naples was fantastic as usual, providing for a warm atmosphere and a clear demonstration of their newest mobile suit piloted by their war games master, Patrick Colasour.
Murmurs of awe could be heard from the audience as the bluish-green unit easily weaved in and out of the obstacles and the oncoming machine gun fire to blast the targets that were scattered throughout the course. Of course, not everybody seemed to be truly impressed as was the case of one man with glasses and long brown hair tied in a ponytail. "The mobile suit Enact. AEU's first solar-powered unit running completely on the power of the sun, eh?"
"AEU still has to complete their Orbital Elevator and yet they're still constructing new mobile suits." The ponytailed man glanced up to his right to see another man with short blonde hair and green eyes.
"It's interesting how you managed to be admitted in, Graham. I got an invitation from Kujoh to observe this event as a Union engineer. What's your excuse?"
Graham merely shrugged before he took a seat on an empty space beside the ponytailed man. "I don't have one."
"Still... the AEU is trying to act strong when in reality, they lag behind us and the Human Reform League in a sense. I wonder how Kujoh's managed to handle working in this stressful environment."
"I'm actually handling it quite well, Billy." Both men turned around to see a smiling female coming up towards them dressed in an AEU uniform. "It's good to see you two again."
Billy's eyes lit up in delight while Graham acknowledged her with a nod of his head. "Same here! Have you been enjoying the Officer Exchange Program?"
"It's not so bad. The AEU command structure's a bit different from back home but it works in its own way. How about we all get together after this demonstration for old times sake? I know this great bar in Rome!"
Graham rolled his eyes in good humour. "Why am I not surprised?"
"Hey, you guys!!"
The trio all stopped their chatting when they heard an angry voice call out to them from the mobile suit. The cockpit hatch opened to reveal a man in a bluish green flight suit. "What are you guys yapping about?!"
"... well, at least the voice recognition is more advanced than our Flag, eh?" said Billy with a weak chuckle.
Kujoh gave a soft sigh. "And this is why Emilio should have been in there instead of him." The phone on her waist started to tingle and she quickly picked it up. "Yes? An unknown? What's the meaning of-" Before she could speak any further, the reception went haywire and all she heard was static. The same seemed to be the same for Patrick as his face grimaced at static filling his helmet.
"Problems?"
"Apparently. In any case, it's best that we have everyone evacuate the premises." Additional AEU officers filled the stands to inform their guests of this incident and to file them out of the vicinity.
"I wonder who would be interested in crashing this event..." Graham trailed off as he heard propulsion engine sounds in the distance and looked up to see strange particles of yellowish light coming from what seemed to be a mobile suit. "That light..."
About ten seconds later, a metallic humanoid robot with a blue torso landed only several feet away from the Enact. There was a strange circular plate in the middle of its chest and its head represented a radical departure in mobile suit design with a face mask and optics. If anything, there was a strong intimidation factor working in this unit's favour. However, it was not enough to deter Patrick from getting back into his Enact.
"Hey, hey... who are you and where did you come from? Union? The Reform League? Well... it doesn't matter anyways because either way, you're not welcome here!"
Down below, two AEU officers were rounding up the remaining audience members. "Why is that fool deliberately antagonizing that suit?!"
"Don't worry. This is still a good chance to show off the Enact. Besides, Patrick's our ace pilot. He's come out on top in 2,000 battles."
'In simulated battles! This won't end well,' thought Kujoh as she kept her eyes on the two units in front of her.
"You little twerp. Don't you know who I am?!" The Enact ejected its sonic blade from its left arm component and grabbed it before it began vibrating wildly, causing the heads of the audience to start ringing. "I'm Patrick Colasour of the AEU! The special war games expert! There's nobody who doesn't know me!!"
"Dammit, Patrick!!" cursed one of the other AEU officers.
"Bring it!!" As the Enact charged forward, the mystery unit's optics glowed once before the blade on its right arm swung out to slice off the Enact's left hand and blade from its body.
"The speed at which it reacted...! What is that thing?!" exclaimed Graham.
"... you bastard! You don't get it, huh?!" The Enact fired a shot from its rifle but its opponent easily rotated to the left while drawing out a beam saber.
"I am...!"
Slice.
"The special...!"
Slice.
"Famous...!"
One more slice for the win before retracting its swords.
"War games master!!" Those were the last words that Patrick got out before the Enact fell flat on its back, with most of its appendages missing.
