"Hey, Nakata? Are you sure that this is okay? I'm more of an investigative reporter rather than one who works in front of a camera."
The cameraman loaded a fresh battery into his camera before he addressed the slightly fidgety reporter. "Just relax. I know you'll do fine. And we're good to go in three... two... one..." He pressed a button on the camera to start taping the segment that would be aired on the next JNN news broadcast.
Without wasting a moment, the white clad female reporter began to speak just as the cameraman adjusted the lens to capture the luxurious background and the guests who were enjoying themselves in the gravity free environment behind the woman. "This is Kinue Crossroad, reporting from the Human Reform League's Orbital Elevator, the Pillar of Heaven where a party is being held within the station to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Elevator's completion. In attendance are numerous ambassadors, politicians, high ranking military officers and high profile celebrities. The JNN took some time to ask a few party guests about their thoughts as we look back on the remarkable journey that has brought solar power to the Human Reform League."
"And... cut! That was nicely done, Kinue! You're a natural at this!"
She took a moment to catch her breath as her cheeks were rather flushed from the praise. "Um... thank you."
"Let's go find someone that we can..." His eyes fell upon a rather attractive Chinese teenage female clad in pink silky gloves and a red dress that exposed her lower back and her shoulders. Her hair was tied into two long thin braids with a pair of pink buns at the top of her head. "Whoa... isn't that Wang Liu Mei?"
"Sorry, who?"
"Ah, right... you're not the type to follow celebrity news and all that. She's the daughter of Wang Zianming, the head of Wang Global!"
"Wang Global? You mean that computer company that just surpassed IBM on the PC market?"
"That's the one! Come on, let's go talk to her!" Before Kinue knew it, Nakata gently pushed her towards the exotic Asian beauty, who seemed to be enjoying the view.
"Um... excuse me?" She waited until she got the girl's attention before continuing. "I'm with the JNN and right now, we're covering the Pillar of Heaven's tenth anniversary and I was hoping that if you wouldn't mind taking a few moments to comment about the Elevator project in retrospect."
"I would be delighted to," replied the Chinese beauty with a small smile.
"Okay, Kinue... get in position. Three... two... one..." The camera started to roll.
"So what are your feelings towards this memorial occasion?" asked Kinue before she moved the microphone closer to Wang Liu Mei.
"It's a remarkable feeling. The Pillar of Heaven stands as a testament that will represent the perseverance of humankind for generations to come." She paused when someone caught her eye amongst the guests. "Excuse me but I must see to my date for this evening." After giving a small nod to the press crew, she floated off back towards the party.
"Oh?! A date?! Just who could be the lucky guy?!"
Kinue frowned at the cameraman's words. "We're not in the Gossip business so let's just focus on getting some other guest commentary!"
Nakata started to whine. "But Kinue-"
"Cut that camera and follow me!"
"Yeah, yeah..."
"What took you so long?" asked Wang Liu Mei as she took the offered drink from her companion.
"...... a lot of people were trying to pry into why you brought me along as a date. Nothing else... really." He looked rather uncomfortable being in this atmosphere in the first place as evidenced by his blue eyes shifting back and forth and how he constantly ran a hand through his white hair.
"I see." She simply took a sip of the drink while her head rested on the young man's left shoulder.
It was a little while before he spoke again. "... they started to move."
"Celestial Being's Gundam Meisters. Zero Kiryu's strategic predictions. Your Geass power. Once the three have worked their magic, the world shall be reborn."
He remained silent as Wang Liu Mei gave a small contented sigh.
"And it will be wonderful... right, Rai-kun?"
