Code Geass - Zero of Celestial Being: To Dance an Endless Waltz [Episode 213788]

by Yasanagi

The control room of the HRL Geosynchronous Satellite Orbital Station was fairly quiet with the only sounds in the room coming from the various workstations that were used by the staff to monitor readings from space. One of the monitors emitted a strange sound, causing its operator to frown. "Another e-sensor reading? Must be a lot of debris out there today."

His neighbour peeked over. "Isn't its mass a little too great?"

This caught the attention of the supervising officer in the room. "It's probably just wreckage from an old generation satellite but let's confirm it with the highest magnitude telescope. I don't want to take any chances while the celebration is still going on."

"Yes, sir." The main monitor in the room switched view to another part of the satellite where the crew saw a group of lights travelling along the satellite's shields. "... what is that?!"

"Enhance the image!" barked the commander. The next view showed him four Hellions that seemed to be on course directly towards The Internationale. "Mobile suits!"

"Impossible! They've snuck in with the debris! By touching the shield, not only their mobile suits but the pilot inside will be-" The operator stopped as one of the units exploded. "Just like that!"

"Hmph! That just proves their resolve. Launch the 3rd Defence Force immediately!"

"And I can honestly say that I am honoured to have been a part of this history." Before the Indian military officer could go any further with his view on the 10th anniversary to Kinue, a lower ranked officer approached him from the side to whisper some information into his ear. "I apologize for cutting the interview short but I have urgent business to attend to. Please enjoy yourselves at the party."

"I suppose officers like him are always busy," muttered Kinue to herself. "Is there anyone else we should talk to or are we good for the story?"

"One more should do it. Now who should we talk to?" Nakata's eyes started going through the crowd for interesting guests.

"You're not trying to find that date of Wang Liu Mei's, right?"

He honestly hated it when she pulled that stern tone. How that kid brother of hers managed to put up with it for years baffled him. "No! Not at all!!"

Had he turned around and looked above, he would have seen the Chinese celebrity with her companion observing the movement of the HRL soldiers discreetly exiting the party. "My my... all of you marching out by yourselves. Rather rude, isn't it?"

"Should we leave as well?" asked Rai quietly.

"There's no need. As expected, Zero's strategic prediction is remarkably accurate." She placed her empty glass on an empty tray of a passing waiter before extending an arm out to the white haired young man. "Shall we dance?"

"At a time like this?"

She merely gave that little mysterious smile that he had grown accustomed to seeing on her face. "It would be rude of us not to enjoy ourselves at this party. And what I desire right now is to dance an endless waltz with you as the Gundams trigger the wave known as 'change'."

Rai gently took her hand and kissed the back of it as he remembered from the years of Britannian etiquette lessons that his father put him through. "As the lady wishes."
