"BBAARRNNEETTTTEE!" Jura wailed, eyes wide in horror and grief, as she watched her best friend and lover's Dread swallowed in a infernal blaze that swallowed a third of the battlefield, tears flowing freely. Vandread Dita, with it's near resilient armor, survived being near the epicenter. Most of the Dreads, though, received major damages. Fortunately, if one could call it, this also had the advantage of wiping most of the enemies, as well as disorienting the enemy. Though that would not last very long, probably only long enough until whatever hellfire the Harvesters unleashed dissipated.
Meanwhile, most of Nirvana's crew were in a state of shock. Barnette, one of their most loyal crew members and great, if somewhat always frowning, friend, was dead.
"...no...life signs...detected..." One of the bridge crew muttered solemnly, but was nearly drowned out by Jura's loud, sorrowful sobbing over the comm line, as well as her crying face over the screen. Not one was without either a solemn look, or grief-stricken eyes.
The relative silence, however, was broken, by none other than Hibiki Tokai over Dita's shoulder. "I...will...NEVER FORGIVE THOSE BASTARDS!" He roared. Dita's eyes were shadowed by her hair, but her teeth were clenched tight, if in grief or shared anger, none knew. But both their grips on the controls tightened, and Vandread Dita suddenly sped forward and into the thick of the enemy forces. Recovered enemy units responded, and they began to swarm around the mecha. They did not last long as the the Vandread's turbine blades(?) shredded through them. Pods began releasing more Cubes, as well as providing cover fire, all aimed at the blue giant.
Hibiki noticed a familiar pattern. In fact... "SHIT!" He screamed as the Cubes suddenly began converging on him. Dita's eyes were wide as well as the Harvesters planned on doing to them on what they did to... "NO!" She shouted, and both Vandread pilots' will responded, as the Vandread began swatting the Cubes away. It was ineffective, as more and more began covering first the hand that was swatting them, then slowly, the limbs, then slowly converged onto the torso.
"DAMN IT!" Hibki screamed as he and Dita were unable to get free from the Cubes.
Then, the 'eyes' began pulsing with red light, as if on a countdown. Both pilots struggled some more, but to no avail. The pulsing red light went faster, and faster. Until...
A glowing hand suddenly came into their vision as it crushed some of the Cubes.
