Initial search for a 'Ranma Saotome' didn't come up with much. Might have been another fake name. A martial artist in Japan. LOTS of those. One capable of freeing Prometheus from deity-forged chains, rarer. A quick inquiry to Pluto revealed the name of the soon-to-be buttmonkey-to-the-gods as Tatewaki Kuno. The 'chosen of the heavens' and 'blue thunder' of some place called 'Furinkan High School' apparently. So, someone who disliked or was at least seriously annoyed by Tatewaki Kuno. Didn't narrow it down all that much, but combined with Prometheus-freeing it was a little help.
Hephaestus suggested to Pluto, since he was on the line, a compulsive carameldanse when Kuno heard music. Pluto suggested that Hephaestus stick to machines and let the god of payback get his skillz to work. Hephaestus countered with the address of a maid cafe in Akihabara with a really darn nice cappucino. How about Thursday?
He DID wonder briefly about the other Olympians. Were they really gone? Or could they have just gone to Bacchus place, gotten so smashed it would take a millenium or two just to remember where Olympus WAS, or some other not-so-sinister explanation.
Hephaestus shrugged and googled Ranma Saotome. Hmm. Hmmm. Not much there. No computer presence to speak of. Didn't their dojo have a website or anything?
Ah, here was something. One of his contacts sent back a lead. Have to reward the fellow sometime. Anyway. Jusenkyo curse, turned into a girl. If Tireisas was around, he'd be able to sympathize. Multiple fiancees, rivals, occasional death threats, mass destruction of public property, high school student. According to this he had girl problems - all of whom were either tsundere or just plain deranged.
Well, THAT was no good. Hephaestus didn't really care for martial arts series. Not enough mecha. Still, he didn't like tsundere in any sort of series - they tended to remind him of his ex-wife and that was all sorts of bad.
Yeah, Aphrodite. Goddess of love who went off with Ares whenever she had the chance. And Diana. And Eris. And... had there been anyone of either gender she HADN'T cheated on him with? Other than those purely virginal ones, and even they'd probably snogged a few times.
Oh yes, Hephaestus had come to favor the concept of big-hearted loyal android girls as soon as he'd seen them. Not that he kept track of such things or held grudges. Well, at least compared to the rest of the Olympians. That time with the golden net over his marriage couch being an exception of course.
So, Ranma Saotome was to get some martial arts manuevers on a scroll, right?
Had to be delivered to him, didn't it? Make sure the wrong person didn't get them, right?
And if it was delivered by his own personal kunoichi squad of superpowerful cute loyal and oh so competent maids? Why, that was just being efficient wasn't it?
That decided, or at least rationalized, Hephaestus started looking for an appropriate source material.
