Get yelled at by Akane for sleeping late and splashed with cold water. Grab the bento Kasumi had prepared, pause long enough to splash some hot water, zip out the door after a brief argument with Akane, ignore snide comment by Nabiki, dash for school.
Ranma dodged the ladle of water thrown by the old woman, which was managed roughly about one quarter of the time, avoided getting hit with a pail of water thrown out a window, and got tagged by a kid with a Water Blaster 2000 who'd been lying in wait lately. Spit out water and glare at giggling kid.
Get hit by Akane for looking like he was going to do something violent to said kid. He'd never done anything. Thought about it, yes, but hadn't done anything yet.
Still, it was all the same old thing. Couldn't something NICE happen to him once in awhile?
Getting to the school meant roughly a 50/50 chance that Tatewaki Kuno would intercept them before they got to the door. If he DID then it was a 100% chance of Tatewaki Kuno saying or doing something stupid.
Here he was, stepping out from behind a tree. Always reminded him about that saying about eating a live frog first thing in the morning. Once you were past Kuno, everything else would be better.
"Hold foul sorcerer Saotome," began Tatewaki Kuno, clearly in full blowhard mode. "Today is the day you fall before the might of the Blue Thunder of Furinkan High!"
Dull, dull, dull, dull. BORING. Ranma suppressed a yawn. "Man, can't this go at least a little different?"
KA THWAM!
That there was a sudden crater in between Tatewaki Kuno and Ranma indicated that - yes there was indeed a tiny possibility this wasn't going to be the usual routine.
The woman who stood up in the crater was an adult, at least about adult Hinako age, who looked at least partly foreign-born. Bustier than Hinako too. She had a cold gaze that swept over the crowd to fasten upon Kuno. "You are annoying Lord Saotome. Stop. Now."
"Who is this?" asked Kuno. "Another woman you have bewitched, Saotome?!"
"Uhm, I dunno," said Ranma, feeling the pulse of angry heat from Akane's direction.
"My pardon, Lord," said the woman, not glancing back at him but apparently concerned entirely with keeping Kuno away. "We have not yet met. I have only recently discovered you still lived. I am the head of your kunoichi squad, my name is Tsunade."
"Oh, I see," said Ranma.
"What is she talking about?" asked Akane.
"I have no idea," confessed Ranma.
"There will be time later," said Tsunade, glaring at Kuno. "If you don't mind, I shall remove this obstacle to your education."
"Hah!" said Tatewaki Kuno, holding his bokken ready. "I'd like to see you triiiiiiaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh!"
"Oh," said Hiroshi. "She's twirling him like a baton!"SMACK! "Forehead flick!" KA WHAM! "All the way through the school retaining wall." DOOOM!"That was the Piledriver Of Doom!"
Ranma looked at where Tatewaki Kuno's twitching feet were sticking up out of the ground. The rest of him was buried.
"Lord Saotome," said Tsunade, one fist tapping the palm of the other hand as she looked over the crowd. "Your path to school has been cleared."
"I noticed," said Ranma, then decided something more was needed. "Nice job."
Akane glanced at the way Kuno was buried, shrugged, and decided she'd get answers later. There was something about the look in the woman's eyes that said she should wait before confronting Ranma about a 'kunoichi squad' he had conveniently forgotten about.
