Naruto thought about it and found the appropriate words. Holding his card up, he invoked it. "Partner Hinata Hyuga. Show me the power within you. Invoking Contract."
Contracts were in more than one direction, which might be why Hinata felt inclined to add something after purple energy flared out and she was wearing the same outfit as earlier. "Sailor Saturn, let ruin fall upon those who threaten the peace of our village."
"So, can you get us out of here?" asked Naruto.
Saturn thought for a moment, then swept her glaive out casually. "Silence Glaive Surprise."
That wall burst open in a hole roughly corresponding with the length of her arm sweep.
"Cool, you get a ranged attack out of it?" asked Naruto.
"Actually," said the Hokage, stepping out of the outer ring that had just been opened into by Hinata's attack. "Hinata's Power Card has the symbol for a Knight on one corner. She has an offensive ability - the Silence Glaive Surprise. She has a defensive ability, the Silence Wall. She has a support ability, the Silent Mending. Her glaive also has the ability to 'silence' strings of chakra - temporarily cutting through them."
"Wow, old man," said Naruto with some admiration evident. "You know more about this stuff than I would'a thought."
The Hokage nodded and made a mysterious little smile. One of the major quirks of his assumption of the Hokage role was knowing when to keep one's mouth shut and let people assume you knew more than you did.
"he just read the stuff scrolling across his crystal ball," muttered Kakashi under his breath.
The Hokage coughed lightly, possibly to cover Kakashi's comment.
"Hinata! What are you wearing?" said Hiashi.
"Her pactio uniform," supplied Hokage.
"Pactio?" asked Hiashi. "What silliness."
"It's a powerup," protested Naruto. "Ya know, ginormous super special ninjutsu stuff."
"Byakugan," said Hiashi Hyuga, skeptical but checking it out anyway. "I don't see..."
Kakashi had already checked it out with his Sharingan. "You might want to close your mouth before birds make a nest in there."
Hiashi Hyuga, clan head of the Hyuga clan, gaped.
There was his disappointing eldest daughter, a bonfire of purple chakra limning her. Sure she was wearing an outfit that reminded him of those northern figure skaters. She was also holding a polearm that practically screamed Destruction Of All Things and -
-and had a line of energy flowing from Naruto Uzumaki to her. It was only visible barely, and then because he was actively looking for it, but he could see it.
"I..." said Hiashi Hyuga finally. "Well now. This puts a different spin on things."
"Eh?" said practically everyone else present.
"Take good care of my daughter," said Hiashi Hyuga to Naruto. "She's been disappointing in many respects."
"Eh?" said practically everyone else present.
"What's the 'eh' for?" asked Hiashi.
"You're changing your opinion?" asked Kakashi.
"Why not?" asked Hiashi. "She's more formidable this way. I can see that she's benefitting from this engagement. Fine. Naruto Uzumaki?"
"Uh, yeah?" asked Naruto, definitely off balance at this point.
"You have my blessings," said Hiashi Hyuga. "Treat my daughter well and help her to attain her full potential."
"Eh?" asked several of those present. Again.
"So you don't have a trouble with this pactio kekkei genkai of Naruto's?" asked Kakashi.
"No, I think I would have preferred she gain an attachment to that Uchiha boy," said Hiashi, "but Naruto and Hinata are engaged to be married so this will do."
"EH?!" asked several of those present.
Hiashi merely nodded and slowly turned and walked away.
Naruto blinked and his head jerked as he looked at the (slowly walking away) Hyuga elder and then at the (blushing and fidgeting) Hinata. "I. He? She? What? We are? What?"
