"...and that concludes my report, Queen Chiba" Captain Ersatz concluded stiffly. He was facing a computer monitor with the image of a pink haired woman, with a gold tiara that had a diamond moon on it.
"Now, now, Captain, don't be so formal. Besides, you know that I'm only queen because my mama's the Overqueen." There was a hint of bitterness in her voice. "If it wasn't for that, I'd be able to go on raids, fight on the frontier, help out in epic battles..."
"You're very different from your mother. She was-"
"What she was was a ditz, a crybaby, and about a million other things."
"She was a pacifist, too."
"..." There was an awkward silence for a while. "...yeah. Mama never did approve of killing. I don't like it either, but if a small handful of deaths can save a civilization, what else can a queen do?"
"Banishment" he said simply. She, however, became angry at the word.
"Banishment is the reason I'm the Time-Hopping Rabbit! If Mama hadn't banished them to Nemesis, then Death Phantom would have had to make a direct assault rather than manipulating them."
"And you would have never met Hotaru or Helios."
"And I never would have... met..." The surly queen stopped for a moment. She had never considered this before.
"If Neo-Serenity had killed them outright, you would have been trained by her directly, before Death Phantom's assault. Therefore, you would have been able to fight without going back in time and learning about her past. Since there would be no precedent, you would not have been sent back to complete your training. No Hotaru. No Helios."
"Helios, I can understand. Hotaru, though, would have been ab-"
"We've been over this, Chibiusa. Hotaru was only able to..."
The argument went on like this for hours. Nobody noticed or cared that the childhood friends were speaking with very informal - and occasionally very loud - language. Captain and Chibiusa were closer than they realized.
Not that that could stop them from arguing for hours on end. Somehow, they went from Sailor Saturn, to the benefits of magic over technology, to who had written the best fanfiction, to, well, just about everything.
Elsewhere, something sinister stirred, waiting for a chance to reach out and touch the dimensions once more.
