Something about that made Ranma rather concerned, but he couldn't be sure as to why exactly that was. "Ya managed to get things fixed up?"
"Well, not as far as that, but we have plenty of materials to use in doing the repairs."
"Huh? What did ya do, Pop?"
"Whatever do you mean?"
"I know you, and you've always managed to get some sort of scheme going," the pigtailed boy grumbled. "So, what is it this time, and how much trouble is this going to get us in to?"
"Stupid boy. Name just one time where that has been the case."
"It'd be kind of hard...."
"See?" replied his father as he turned up his nose.
"Yeah. There's just been so many times where we've had to hustle to keep ahead of trouble that it kind of blends together."
"Uggh...."
"Then have ya really managed to not get this through a trick?"
"I can guarantee that," Genma remarked, looking rather satisfied look on his face. "In fact, the people who did the actual sale seemed to be almost excited to make me the deal."
Miyabi looked around at the sight of the cracked walls and the loose paint and frowned to herself. "That does seem to be most curious."
"Why would it be? I mean, it's not like I got ripped off or anything. They even put in all the materials that we could need for only a little bit more."
"That makes it even more suspicious."
"Doesn't seem to be all that bad of a deal to be honest," Synclavier commented as she crossed her arms behind her head and leaned back in a pose that would have set male hearts racing.
Used to such displays, Miyabi merely looked thoughtful. "Yes, but one would have to ask 'why' then. I'm sure that all that wood and plaster would cost a lot. So why abandon it?"
"You do have a point there. When people do something that nice, they usually have something up their sleeve."
"Well, I'm not quite sure that I'd put it in that way, but the concept does hold."
"Both of you should stop worrying about it," the Saotome patriarch intoned. "I mean, it wasn't like I didn't give them a big hand in dealing with this."
"Oh, then they did drop off something onto you."
"Only in the fact that they didn't have to deal with this mess anymore. Why, it seemed that every time they went to do work on this house, something came up to make the workers rush right out of here. It was almost like something kept on forcing them out when they tried to get anything done, but that's just the sort of thing that they use to joke about such things, you know."
Ranma and both of his slaves just simply stared at Genma and wondered about how much of an idiot he really was.
"Okay then. It's about time for us to go inside and see what we can do about settling in," the big man told them, hefting his pack as he led the way in.
"Why do I have the feeling that this isn't going to go well?" Synclavier asked no one in particular.
With a completely straight face, Miyabi stepped over next to her partner and fellow slave. "Perhaps since you are not a complete idiot?"
For his part, Ranma found himself agreeing with his slave girls and hoped that this wouldn't blow up in his face, while:
