"Zero! Zero! Zero! Zero! Zero!"
"Please, my lady. Give him to me?"
Nunnally vi Britannia looked at the man before her, tears streaking down her face.
"Please, Lady Nunnally...The crowd..."
Oh, yes. Having the Demon Emperor's - body lying here, just like that, would be - much too much temptation. Yes.
Nunnally looked on numbly as Lord Jeremiah Gottwald slowly and quietly pulled Lelouch vi Britannia's body out of her hands and wiped some of the blood off them, and then took off at a run, alongside his men.
Goodbye, Brother.
"Zero! Zero! Zero! Zero! Zero!"
"Nunnally! Nunnally, are you all right!"
Nunnally blinked. "Oh...Elder Sister..."
"Yes, yes, it's me - damn it, where's the body!?"
"Um..."
"Oh, never mind, Gottwald took it, didn't he - damn that Demon Hound. Oh hell, is he even actually dead? Damnit."
Cornelia paused.
"Nunnally, please wait a bit more - I have to get those ankle chains off you. And get you something - decent - to wear..."
Nunnally shrugged. Well, the red dress covered her body, and was actually pretty easy to move in, and the color meant that the bloodstains didn't show all that much, so...
So. Well, hell. Everything - Everything - had been planned.
Hadn't it.
Well, alright, it was impossible for anybody to plan for everything, but...
Nunnally raised her eyes - and almost stopped breathing.
Her Lord Father and Lady Mother were looking at her, almost transparent in the breeze.
Charles nodded to her, once, and then turned his back - blinking when Marianne put her hand on his arm.
"...Marianne?"
"Come on, let's go."
Charles looked very strangely at her indeed. He'd lost - why was she still standing besides him?
"What a strange woman you are, Marianne Lamperouge."
Nunnally watched her parents disappear, blankly remembering her childhood.
How many people had actually known Charles di Britannia the man, instead of the 98th Emperor of the Holy Britannian Empire, anyhow? Or had even cared a damn about him?
Now that she thought about it, though - how many people had known Marianne Lamperouge the woman, either? Marianne the Flash had been famous, to be sure, but...
Ahh, well.
"...Nunnally?" Cornelia was craning her neck. "What were you looking at?"
"Oh, nothing, nothing." Nunnally wiped the blood off on her red dress. And cried. Just a little more.
And tried not to think about what she had seen, just a split second before her mind had returned to the real world, when the blazing light had swirled through the darkness they were all drifting in.
Maybe she shouldn't have looked behind that dark curtain. At the very least, she would have less nightmare fodder to fuel her dreams, she suspected
But she was so, so tired of people always keeping her in the dark, both literally and not...
