So maybe everything wasn't wrong with the world. Just most of it.
Nunnally sighed, plucking her bedcovers, trying to figure out how to get into some suitable clothing without alerting the staff to what she was doing.
There was still something she had to do.
Nina Einstein blinked as Nunnally materialized a bit behind her, and crashed to the floor of the small clearing in front of the small house.
"Oh. You're here. What are you wearing?"
"I'm very sorry, but I had access to nothing but my sleeping clothes - do you think there is anything suitable, here?"
Nina looked at her for a bit, her eyes blank and inward-looking.
"Oh, alright, take what you want. There should be something."
"Thank you." Nunnally crawled on her hands towards the small house. She'd meant to try to take her wheelchair with her, but things hadn't worked out that way...
"What about trying to levitate yourself?"
Nunnally blinked. Oh, right, now that she thought about it...
Nunnally soon discovered that it was much, much easier to move other things around with the power of your mind (well, sort of) then trying to move yourself. There were much less chances of bruises in strange places, just for one thing.
"...You should probably try to see if you can get your legs and such fixed up, too. Or if you can just make them move."
"You're probably right, Miss Nina."
Hmmm, so there were plenty of casual clothes for a young woman her size here - but of even semi-formal clothes, not so much. Oh, well - here was a school uniform. It even looked similar to her Ashford uniform, somehow...
"You've taken your time!"
Nunnally blinked at the harsh tone in Nina's voice. What had - oh.
Lord Jeremiah Gottwald had arrived on the scene, arms gently cradling a blanket-wrapped figure. He looked shocky and white.
"Lord Jeremiah..." Nunnally tried to get closer to him.
"Ouch! Hey, am I in time?"
And that was Earl Asplund. Nunnally wondered how many people were going to end up coming here.
"I think so. Ahh, Earl...If you could...?"
Nunnally motioned towards Jeremiah. Lloyd Asplund sighed, shaking his head.
"I'm sorry, but..."
"Hey! Hey, were did you find that school uniform! I've been looking for a school uniform for ages, now..."
Nina cut in, twisting her fingers feverishly.
"Oh...what kind of school uniform?"
Nina looked at the blanket-wrapped figure in Jeremiah's arms.
"Oh...then...I'll look for the uniform, if you wish."
"Oh, good, thank you." Nina strode up somewhat drunkenly to Jeremiah.
"OK, then, time to wash and clean the body now - give him to me, 'Kay?"
Jeremiah Gottwald twitched, while Lloyd Aspund only sighed.
"Jeremiah. Please."
Nina twitched like a puppet on a string. "Look, Sir Gottwald, I know what he looks like. Now give him to me, alright?"
There was a slight shuffle to their left, then, and long green hair came into view.
"Oh...Ouch..."
"Oh, hey!" Lloyd bounded up. "Let me see you - "
Nunnally sighed as the Earl pushed C.C's hair away from her forehead, and whooped.
"Oh, my - Pluto, long time no see! I've missed you so!"
"What?" C.C muttered. "Who - oh - Uranus? In the name of -"
"Well, that's all and good, but would somebody let me wash the body like I'm supposed to?" Nina complained as Lloyd hugged C.C as if hugging was going to be outlawed tommorow.
C.C sighed, looking on at the tabulue. "Enough. Alright, alright..."
"Look, Jeremiah Gottwald. I know you must be confused as all hell - but that's all right. We're supposed to be here, he's - well, his body's - supposed to be here, and it's all right. Do you hear me?"
"But..." Jeremiah murmured. "I...why?"
"Just give him to us, Jeremiah Gottwald."
Nunnally slowly scooted over to Jeremiah, and gave his arm what she hoped was a reassuring squeeze.
"Princess..."
"Yes, yes, it's all right. Let go, Jeremiah."
And Jeremiah did.
The body that was under the blanket had honey-brown hair with reddish highlights and purple-blue eyes, now open and looking blankly at the skies. It also was covered with what appeared to be burns, all down the left side of the body. There was a large gash in the stomach, partially covered by the Imperial finery.
The resemblance to one Charles di Britannia was quite strong. To Lelouch vi Britannia the Demon Emperor...not so much.
"Ahh, well." Nina sighed, then. "Hey, everybody - how old does he look?"
"Hmmm." C.C. murmured. "17 or 18, I'd say..."
"Really? - I hadn't thought that any version of Charlie - I mean, the Charles I used to know - had actually lasted that long...shows what you know, eh?"
Jeremiah had almost curled up into himself, murmuring softly. Nunnally squeezed his arm again.
"It's really all right..."
"Ahh, Little Charlie - to think that things ended up this way..."
Lloyd Aspund sighed.
"Hey! Nunnully - Um, Princess, did you find the uniform? There's really a lack of funeral clothes, here..."
"Here, here...Do you need a blanket?"
"Well yes, if you'll just hold it over him while I clean him up..."
Well, at least Nina seemed to be feeling better, now that she was doing what she felt she was supposed to.
"Burns, huh...what was he fighting that would leave that kind of burns?"
"Any number of things...the Dark Kingdom comes to mind, though."
"Huh? That's old news..."
"Noot really, Metallia is one thing, but Beryl..."
"Mmmmmm."
Nunnally angrily wiped her tears away, recalling snips of memories that weren't hers at all...
