Nodoka Saotome was sitting at her house trying her best to not cry. She had just gotten back from the Tendos to find out that Ranma had left on some quest to find a way to fight monsters. It was the sign of a true man that Ranma wouldn't just sit on his rear, unlike a certain other Saotome male she could name, while monsters attacked the city. Nodoka was proud of Ranma, but kami damn it she wanted to see her son! Was it really too much for a mother to ask to see her son after ten long years?
Just as the tears were about to flow, Nodoka heard the doorbell ring. She immediately headed to the door and called out, "Who is it?"
Behind the door a person said, "Special delivery Ma'am. We've got a delivery for a Nodoka Saotome regarding a prize won in Maniac Abdul's Magic Shop raffle contest."
Nodoka remembered that raffle competition she had entered on a whim and answered the deliver man. "I'm Nodoka Saotome. You can leave the package on the doorstop and I'll bring it in." There was no way that Nodoka would let some stranger see her in her current state of distress. Nodoka waited until she heard that the delivery truck pull away to come out and collect her prize.
The Saotome matriarch quickly brought the package in and opened it to reveal a lamp. Nodoka was curious to see if there was anything inside the lamp and pulled off the lid. Suddenly, a great cloud of white smoke came gushing forth from the lamp and the could turned into a man. Nodoka looked at her new house guest in shock blurting out, "Who are you?"
The man bowed his head and said, "I am the great genie Barza of the Lamp. For freeing me, Oh Mistress, you may ask for any wish that is your heart's desire and I shall grant it."
Nodoka looked at Barza and said the first thing that came to her mind. "I wish I be with my son again."
Barza smiled and said, "It is a simple task, Oh Mistress, but I shall happily achieve it for you!" Barza brought his hands together causing a blinding flash of light. Nodoka blinked her eyes and saw that she was no longer in her house, but in the Command Center.
