"I'm always hungry," Ranma admitted as he licked his lips and leaned in towards the food. "Dunno why, but I do a lot of trainin' and stuff."
"I guess that could be it. From what I can tell, you do seem to get more exercise than a boy of your age used to."
"Could be so, but it ain't like I really care 'bout that sorta thing."
"No, you just seem to care about eating," the robot boy drawled.
"Well, I gotta eat, and a lot of this food is really tasty."
"Looks like the kitchen staff likes to cook for you."
Peering at the food, the human shrugged. "I'm not making them do it, or anything."
"Ah, but that wasn't what I meant. You see, according to the data that I saw, females apparently like to take care of things."
"Like what?" his young audience asked, looking very curious at that moment.
At the sight of the boy looking at him as if he was some sort of fountain of wisdom, Rock nearly scratched at his nose in embarrassment. He wasn't able to keep his expression from becoming strained, as he knew the limits of his own understanding. But the fact of the matter was that the kid wasn't going to get much in the way of information from other sources, so he could at least help the human as best he could.
"Now, you've got to realize that most of what I know is based off of what I've gotten from the historical records," Rock admitted, and then affected a sigh. "Still, from what I understand, it seems that human girls liked to care for those who were precious to them. They liked to coddle them, sort of like keeping them comfortable and happy. That meant a lot of them would go out of their way to do things like cooking for boys that they liked."
"Wow. Then I guess that the girls in the kitchen really like me," Ranma breathed.
"Pretty much."
"But what about that 'makeover' thing?"
"According to the records, girls really liked being seen as 'pretty' or 'attractive', especially by the boys that they'd like. So, they'd go out of their way to make themselves look good in front of those guys, even to the point of acting silly."
"Huh? Kinda weird to go that far."
The robot boy gave a small nod. "True enough, but the idea of being in a relationship was very appealing. Some girls even began dreaming of the day that they could marry when they hadn't even gone to school yet."
"It was that important?"
"It was an ideal, that was constantly shown in feminine stories like 'romance novels' and 'chick flicks'."
"Sounds kind of messy," Ranma groused.
"Could be, but to be honest, the end that they'd want wouldn't be done too flashy by most. In fact, not saying it outright seems to be equally important."
"Uh... how do ya know what's goin' on if you don't say it?"
"I don't know myself, but there were actions that were meant to indicate things for a boy," Rock told him. "Sometimes, even cooking a meal when it's not expected is important. Why, just having a girl give a boy chocolates on Saint Valentine's Day was a way of letting the guy know that the girl was interested in him."
"That'd be a nice way to find out that sort of thing."
"Yes, and girls would enjoy a lot of things. But it seems that they also liked elaborate things, like big fancy parties, and long events."
"Sounds like a lot of work. Are the girls here going to be doing that sort of stuff?" Ranma asked, concern pinching his features.
"A little. You've got to understand, the female styled units were mostly based on human girls. They have a lot of the same desires, and want to do the same things."
"Oh man...."
"It's not like they were made to cause trouble. But since human girls were supposed to be gentler than guys, and tended to be more... quiet, it only made sense. The idea was that they'd be not only willing to do what others wanted of them, but would be looking to help out where they could."
"Then they wanna be around me."
"Lots of them. To them, its a chance to be with someone that they might be able to support."
"Then that's why they took Roll away? To get their own chance?"
"No.... You see, there is also the idea of helping each other out too. As much as human girls would fight and tease each other, there were plenty of times where they'd want to get together and do things as a group, including helping one of their own out."
"And they're helping her out?"
"All so that they can they can put in their ideas about what she could be for you," Rock confirmed.
Something about that concerned Ranma, but he wasn't sure what that was, so he merely stuffed some food in his mouth and began to chew, while:
