"Agreed," said Ranma. "What about your sisters? Could you check on them for me?"
"I'll contact them," said Akane, relief briefly washing over her features. She HAD been worried about them, and she was being handed an excuse.
"You want me to come along?" asked Ranma, jingling his shakuj? as he shifted his weight on his seat. "I can summon a chocobo for you."
"I'd appreciate the ride," admitted Akane, "but you've got others to check on, don't you?"
"I suppose," said Ranma, sorting through memories. "In the morning I'll summon a chocobo for you. When you dismiss him it'll carry a message to me."
"Not one like Butterball," Akane stressed, turning to regard Ranma. "I'd like to get there in one piece."
"A nice gentle yellow," Ranma assured her.
"Good," said Akane, settling back to her previous position. "I've seen how fast Butterball goes."
"Kweh?" asked Butterball innocently.
"Don't give me that innocent look," said Akane sternly, not even bothering to look in that direction. "I know better."
Interesting how this wove together. Ranma's family was apparently highly placed, a noble house or clan. The Tendo family is also of higher than average status.
"What are they talking about with that overgrown chicken? How fast can something that silly-looking be?"
Ranma being the Chocobo Sage-in-training, he has access to a number of chocobo. Each breed has a different degree of speed. Yellow is the most common, the tamest, and the slowest.
"He's got the slowest breed?"
If you mean Butterball, no. Butterball is a gold chocobo.
"Whatever. Still can't be very fast."
The shakuj? jingled as Ranma thumped the staff on the ground. "Summon!"
BAMF!
Ranma nodded at the result. "Akane, this is Boco. He will take you where you need to go. Just dismiss him when you're done."
"Right," said Akane. "See you later then, Ranma."
Ranma waited until Akane was out of sight before getting up on Butterball. "Well, we should try to hurry I suppose."
"Kweh!" said Butterball.
"Our neighbors were probably hit too. I think," said Ranma as he settled into place, "that we should go first to:"
