The beasts had come together and formed a single Tailed Beast, one sufficiently powerful that the civilization that had grown up in its absence was likely to be swept away in a matter of a single year or less.
It was going after the ninja villages and the capitals first. Appearing at a distance from each, then coming on in an implacable manner. Everything thrown against it was destroyed. Three of the Great Shinobi Nations were already in ruins.
Now it was approaching a village in a forested area.
"The only one to have successfully sealed it was the Sage Of The Six Paths," pointed out Kakashi Hatake, a jonin present on the top of the head of the rather large toad who was sitting between the Beast and the village.
"This is the best I can do," said Minato Namikaze. "Seal jutsu have improved since those days, and I've worked everything else out as best I could."
"Can the boy really contain THAT?" asked Sarutobi, the Third Hokage.
"Yes, I've gone over it," said Minato. "The best I can do under the circumstances."
The beast charged forward then, and the time for talk was over.
"Word gets around fast for a village with ninja supposedly able to keep secrets," noted the Third Hokage as he looked over the various clan heads, jonin, and other folk who had crowded into the office.
"We saw the beast being sealed, why are we simply not killing the brat?" asked the Uchiha clan head.
Sarutobi took a deep drag of his pipe, giving himself a moment to compose an answer. "Do we know for sure that will kill the Beast?"
"What?" asked the Uchiha, a bit put off by the answer.
"It is equally possible that killing the child will simply free the Beast to go destroying things again," said Sarutobi. "Which would begin with OUR village and end up with kami only knows how many casualties by the end. The longer the boy lives, the more the beast can be subdued."
"I'm working on a means of seperating out portions of the power of that Beast," said Jiraiya, who was apparently watching the rain from the window and not paying much attention to the crowd. "Though we need to train the child as soon as we're able, to make him a stronger shinobi who can properly contain the beast within him."
There was some discomfort shown around the room, nobody really fond of the idea of having something that could explode that messily around them.
"On to other business," said the Third, realizing that he wasn't going to accomplish much else at this juncture. "I'll need detailed reports on the destruction and casualties. Since we ARE one of the few intact remaining shinobi villages, I expect we'll also have refugees from the destroyed areas arriving. We need to be able to welcome them and accept these refugees. I don't expect it to run smoothly. I certainly DO expect cooperation from all clans and departments."
A cat sat outside of the world and looked things over.
Analogues were easy to work into the situation, especially with the chaos of the aftermath to assist in the backtracking.
Analogues were, of course, the reflections of another life and time in a different world. For example, in a world which was a mainline - there was a pair of young boys whose last name was Elric and they were both alchemists who used a certain magic system.
With an Analogue of the original, there was an Edward Elric who was a Fuuinjutsu expert whose particular specialty was Transformation Seals. He might never even show up in the remains of the Five Shinobi Nations, much less cross paths with Naruto, but there existed a mechanism for the two to cross paths.
Though it was going to be odd enough, perhaps, with:
