"Not that we haven't come across similar situations in the past," added Iruka Umino.
"An odd number of graduates does come up from time to time," agreed Mizuki.
"Maito Gai's team should be Neji Hyuga, the rookie of the year," said Iruka. "The last place graduate - Rock Lee is already Gai's pupil. Tenten has a solid set of skills and provides ranged attack skills to help balance out the other two's close-range attacks."
"That leaves the Hinata Hyuga and Naruto Uzumaki pairing," said one of the instructors, his face twisting slightly when he mentioned the demon-carrier. "Kurenai Yuhi has expressed some interest in mentoring the Hyuga girl, probably due to one of her team-mates being a Hyuga."
"Masashi Hyuga of the branch family," said Mizuki, nodding. "Yeah. They didn't do too well on that mission, did they?"
"Two of a three man team AND their jonin down? No," said the older instructor, "they did not do well at all."
"Well, there IS one thing to do," said Mizuki as if thinking of something for the first time.
"What's that?" asked Iruka.
"Hold them back until a suitable team can be put together," said Mizuki. "The Hyuga heir can train with family for the next year."
"I've a better idea," said the older instructor. "What about if we:"
