"Well, I don't like this setup!" tried Naruto. He was going to go on about the choices and how tightly controlled it all seemed to be. He was hoping to eventually get some massive bonuses out of it.
"Okay. Let's try a different setup then.
"Wha?!" asked Naruto, suddenly elsewhere.
[Welcome to Nations Of Ninjacraft!]
"WAIT! I WAS NEGOTIATING!" called out Naruto.
[No Saved Characters Found!]

"Uhm. Is this why I'm in the old Academy classroom, everything is black and white, and I apparently have no BODY?!?!"

"What? Oh ha ha. It is to laugh. What do I look like to you?"

"NO! NO! NO! NO! NOT CORRECT! Stupid game thingie! BOY!"

"YES!" Naruto grumbled before realizing he had a sort of outline body that had clicked into place. "Okay. Very weird. Sort of like I gotta body but nothing's solid or something?"

"A skinny, a medium, a thick, or a pudgy?" asked Naruto as he looked over the outlines. "Medium I guess." He touched the rectangle with that outline and things shifted again.
This was followed by choices in hair length and style, and a few other such things relating to appearance. Followed by a "Save Appearance Data" which he used.

"Yes. It is okay. It is fine. Yeesh - why all the questions?"

"Naruto. Na-Ru-To," said Naruto.
"Okay, class, we've got some questions for you to fill out," said Iruka, passing sheets out.
Naruto blinked as he realized that his hands and arms were now visible and not simply some weird blur. "Okay. Very weird. Still can't move from my seat."
The sheets had something weird on them. Which, Naruto reflected, was pretty much what you'd expect.

Naruto froze as much as the scene around him had. He got the implications of THAT statement immediately. "Uhm. Cheats Activate? Cheat On! Uhm. Can I get a clue here?"

"Guh?" asked Naruto. "Clue on cheat codes?"

"I don't get that," said Naruto, looking down at the weird sheet of paper in front of him. "I DO know that I'm tired of being the 'Dead Last' though. What happens if I do this?"

Colors faded back into the scene and everyone unfroze.
"Okay, collecting papers," said Iruka Umino. "Today we're learning about how to use chakra!"
"Any way I can skip the tutorial?" asked Naruto, not expecting an answer.

Things abruptly came to a halt.

"COOL!" exclaimed Naruto. "Wait a minute. Did I just get taller?"
The scene was still frozen, so by this time Naruto knew something else would be happening.
[Academy Test Failed]
[Take on Mizuki Mission?]
"Might as well," mused Naruto. "I get that technique. Maybe something else. I'm guessing I can't use stuff unless I unlock it in this game... so. Yes."
It had gone EXACTLY the way he'd thought, except that apparently he couldn't do Oiroke No Jutsu. Why not? He had no idea except apparently he hadn't learned/invented it yet in this game-thing.
So instead he'd explained the situation to the Hokage, in that Mizuki was testing him for special placement.
Naruto had learned that he had failed the test because he'd been exhausted from studying and working out and hadn't been in good shape for the actual test. After a lecture on not working quite so hard and being ready for a mission, it had gone pretty well.
Of course, the kinjutsu scroll had been tagged with a tracker. Just in case.
There was also a pair of ANBU who were waiting to see exactly how much information Mizuki would give out on his own. Not that they didn't have people who could drag such information out of him, it was just that until they had conclusive evidence beyond an Academy student's story - they had to give the guy the benefit of the doubt.
So Naruto opened the scroll and looked at the first jutsu.

"Huh," said Naruto. "That was even easier than the first time. I wonder."

Naruto eagerly tried to unfurl more of the scroll but only got a little further before an angry buzz sounded and another message appeared.
[ANBU Boar is getting suspicious]

"Cheap!" complained Naruto. "Hmmm. 'Shadow Kunai'? Wicked."
[Learned Shadow Clone Kunai]
"Naruto! What are you doing with the scroll?!"
"Oh, hi, Iruka-sensei," said Naruto. "Mizuki-sensei wanted me to steal this scroll and meet him out here. Kinda like a real ninja mission to prove I should graduate anyway. Should have known there'd be a secret ninja test."
"What? There's no secret ninja test," said Iruka as he walked along the roof of the small hunting cabin. "At least until you get to jonin. And I suppose the chunin exams might qualify, but certainly not the genin test."
"Correct," said Mizuki, striding confidently out onto a branch. "That scroll is my chance to get ahead!"
Naruto sighed and stretched.
[Skip 'You Are The Demon Fox Speech'?]
"Yup," said Naruto, guessing he'd triggered that.
"-the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox!" declared Mizuki, pointing at Naruto.
"No, he's a precious student of Konohagakure!" said Iruka, drawing a rod from his vest and then swinging it. The metal ratcheted out to three times its original length.
Naruto blinked. He hadn't recalled Iruka having anything like that.
Iruka twirled the rod, knocking aside three kunai that Mizuki had thrown. "Give up, Mizuki. You really think Kumo or Iwa will give you some special deal?"
"Why should I stay in a village that gives THAT a chance at being a ninja?" countered Mizuki, hurriedly drawing a slender blade to counter Iruka's leaping assault.
There was metal clashing against metal as the two chunin went at it.
"Whoa," said Naruto, a little more impressed with Iruka-sensei as the teacher used Kawarimi to avoid one attack and then flicked back in to renew the assault from another direction.
"You think this can stop me?" asked Mizuki. "Try this! Fire Serpent!"
"Watergun!" countered Iruka.
"This is a lot more impressive than the last time," noted Naruto as he watched the two teachers fighting.
"Where did you learn that attack?" asked Iruka.
"Lord Orochimaru grants benefits to those who swear to follow him," stated Mizuki.
"Okay," said an ANBU, flickering into place next to Naruto. "That's what we wanted to know. You want to do the honors?"
"Hell yes," said Naruto. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
Naruto couldn't help but get a bit misty-eyed as Iruka gave him the speech about being a proud genin of Konohagakure, and gave him the forehead-protector that marked him as a genin.
He wasn't quite expecting the surroundings to freeze and go black-and-white on him again though.

"Okay," said Naruto, going into the classroom. "This'll be awesome. I just... no. Not going to stand there."
There was absolutely no way he was getting bumped into Sasuke again. Instead he'd just sit way over here.
