In the meantime, the training would have to begin again, and this time, the schedule would hve to be sped up quite a bit. That would have to be to make up all that had been missed because of his son's so-called pets, and he'd have to forgo some of the easier work for this, but it was the path of a true martial artist. Once he saw the truth in that, his son would thank him for that.
So, he was in the port, having abandoned his lifeboat earlier, and trying to plan out what to do next. The Nekoken held some poetic justice, but then again, he'd heard of a training ground and he'd always been willing to try those out. Though, he could go for a nice warm bed and some hot food at an inn too. His mind was almost totally occupied with the possibilities...
Which was why he didn't see his son's dog until she had sank her teeth into his bottom.
Ranma was shocked out of his doldrums by the sound of his father fairly screeching and the sight of Haruka digging her teeth into his rear. He fairly twitched from the image, but it wasn't exactly just shock. Nor was it really anger. More like a sense of relief, and of... humor. His greyhound had never hid her dislike of Genma, but this was a new one. Perhaps she was mad at him leaving her behind, but it was more likely that it had something to do with the reason why his furry (and feathered) friends tried to get hims away so badly in the first place.

And he was glad that they had not, because this in and of itself hurt bad enough. Just why it seemed that these creatures were out to get him so much, he didn't know, but they seemed go out of their way to do things against him. and he had no clue how the damn mutt had found them.
But what he didn't realize was that he'd been followed almost since he'd left the boat. The darkness that he had thought to slipp away in had been no match for the owl that had fairly kept him in sight all night. Her exhaustive aerial recon had been followed by the tag team of the golden eagle and the raven. Gound tracking had been kept up by the pair of cats. So his so called 'escape' had been nothing of the sort and his first indication of his failure had been when the dog decided to introduce herself to his posterior.
Not that she enjoyed it at all. at first, insitinct had told her that it would be quite nice to to get him there, but it quickly lost its allure as soon as she did it. Biting someone like Genma was not what one could call an inviting experience.
As she let go, she found herself being embraced by Ranma, while:
