Her best bet was likely to be a phone call, though she did hope that she wouldn't have to play 'tag' in that regard. There was no guarantee that her friend would be there, and so she couldn't be sure that she could pass on the information as she wanted to. Then again, a chance that the wife in question could be in easy reach of a phone, so she decided that she had to take the rest. At worst, her father would call her back to the table before she could get a pick up on the other end.
A part of Akane was amused over how much effort that she was having to put in this for Ranma, even though he wasn't there. But then he likely hadn't thought that he would have caused this, just like he probably hadn't gone to that private high school that his mother sent him to expecting to find someone to marry. Yet he had, and now that meant that the youngest Tendo had to get over to the phone to call:
