Instead he had the three genin who'd shown some teamwork, but not really enough in his opinion.
He spread the three files on the table in front of him, ignoring the chunin working in the background.

The file gave the usual information. Height, weight, known allergies, skills known. As this was the ANBU file, it also gave information generally not found in the more public file shown to potential clients.
Things like his Psych Eval, which had more red and yellow flags than even Naruto Uzumaki. Because he was the Last Uchiha and the Uchiha had been the Konoha Police department, and because he'd survived the Massacre - most of those flags were accompanied by notes to lessen the impact of those warning flags.
Because he was Kakashi Hatake, the only Sharingan wielder left in the village until Sasuke manifested his, he also knew a few things about the Sharingan and how it manifested. This was not going to be fun, in Kakashi's opinion. Yes, he owed Obito. Yes, he wanted to see Sasuke become an exemplary ninja. That didn't mean that things couldn't go wrong very very quickly.
It would have been better if all three could have just gone back to the Academy. Let them stay kids for awhile, mature a bit physically and psychologically, not have to walk a path of blood and pain and loss quite so soon.
Unfortunately, with Naruto Uzumaki getting enthusiastic about going off on his own as a civilian to invent even more powerful jutsu... that wasn't something that could happen.

Kakashi hesitated on this folder. He knew about the prisoner. That Naruto was the prison of the Ninetailed Demon Fox. The stupid prankster, whose idea of being an 'awesome ninja' had somehow been scrawling graffiti on walls, had changed virtually overnight after his genin exam. Now he was pulling new and powerful jutsu apparently out of his butt.
The jonin flipped the cover open and his visible eye widened at what he saw there.
He'd known, just from the scents he'd picked up on the test, that someone could cook. Apparently that was Naruto. Though he was 'quantity over quality' in approach, he was still producing pretty high quality. And was giving out meals to the ANBU who were watching over him nowadays. Cat had scribbled a few notes here indicating that Naruto had produced a bento that had nearly brought her to tears, especially the berry tart that had been included as a dessert item.
A chakra sensor type had investigated Naruto and had determined he was a Wind type primarily. However, she'd also determined that Naruto Uzumaki had affinities for Fire, Water, Earth, and WOOD?!
That wasn't even counting the bizarre jutsu listed here that he'd demonstrated for the Hokage and three ANBU. He'd thrown out some jutsu that produced lightning, ice, pure destructive energy, and repaired wounds.
After a few minutes of reading, and a private prayer to the spirits of his ancestors that Naruto hadn't actually hit him with anything messily fatal during the bell test, Kakashi closed the folder and went to the last one.
[Sakura Haruno]
Prior to her "accident" - she'd simply been a technically proficient kunoichi-candidate. Physical skills poor, academic skills high, good multi-tasking. Potentially a good genjutsu type, though with good chakra control but poor reserves.
Her taijutsu scores were still pretty bad, but her strength had gone up. Those dragonfly-like wings were functional and tougher than they looked. She was having to eat a lot more, and craving high-energy foods, but the doctors were pointing out that she was burning calories quite quickly and was unlikely to put on any extra weight.
She needed to train more on her flight. She wasn't particularly fast, and she tended to crash into stationary objects. One of the ANBU that had followed her was recommending that she learn some sort of ranged weapon or spear-work as her flight capabilities made either attractive once she worked out some basic proficiency with that mode of travel.
Kakashi put the three folders back, nodded to the chunin at the door as he left, and then roof-hopped to the lab where Naruto was apparently working on new jutsu.
He was surprised to see Hinata Hyuga there, apparently assisting Naruto in whatever madness was going on.
He was even more surprised to see what that madness was that Naruto was cooking up.
