And her teeth went to grinding as she looked over at her mistress' fiance. This boy, whose mouth was going wide and without dignity, was the one that she was supposed to surrender the sweet and gentle girl who was the heiress of her clan to. Not only was he a foolish lout who was constantly getting into compromising situations, but he showed no sign of understanding what he was getting in to.
"Do you understand how much of a bother you are?" she growled.
"I think she's talking to you," Konoka commented to her fiance.
"Is she?" Ranma grunted, and then glanced at the girls. "About what?"
Blowing out a breath, Setsuna scowled at him. "You don't even realize that you are associated with her. Everything that you do is going to reflect on her."
"It's not like I'm embarrassing her."
"He's right about that," her mistress agreed. "Being so relaxed is pretty nice."
"But, my lady...." Setsuna began.
"We're just starting our school year. Why not start our time in classes enjoying it?"
"You are right, of course."
"Don't even have to mention it," Ranma sighed. "Getting stuck in school all day is going to be rough, so making the best of it doesn't sound that bad."
"Might be nice to enjoy the day," Kaede put in.
"Exactly how I figured... What's that?"
The girls all stopped as he went to point, but it didn't take long before they were able to see what he meant. After all, it wasn't exactly hard to see the growing crowd around the large sign boards. But there hadn't been enough time for any test results, and the acceptance for attendance to the school wasn't posted like that. Yet, as the boys and girls milled about, the rising crash of voices and energetic movements were speaking of a happy time.
"What's with this?" Setsuna asked no one in particular.
But someone seemed intent on answering. "It's time for their annual contest."
"Who are you supposed to be?"
"Me? Just another student here," the blonde girl drawled, waving her hand leisurely through the air.
"You are?"
"Yes, I am. And I figured that I should tell you that you really should keep an eye on that board.",P> Konoka glanced at the board for a moment before looking back to the newcomer. "Is it really that important?"
"Why don't you ask them?"
Now Ranma and the girls turned as one to look to their side, and again, it wasn't hard to see what they needed to. Several boys were coming their way, each of them looking rather troublesome. Perhaps at another time, seeing a guy wearing a rugby helmet or carrying a baseball bat. But right now, the gleam in their eyes and the lack of a sports game made it clear.
"Oh, so you're supposed to be the 'Templars'," one of the boys murmured with what was likely supposed to be a predatory smile.
"Huh?" Ranma blurted back. "Are you talking to us?"
"Anyone else here?"
"And who are you supposed to be?" Setsuna bit out.
"The 'Horde', and your first opponents."
The blonde girl suppressed a grin as she saw the gang attack the four of them, knowing that her plan was working so far. Oh, they wouldn't be terribly hurt, and would likely not be challenged all that much, but it would keep them busy. Once their fighting got more and more noticed, they would get a reputation, and people would start to want to fight them.
"You're Evangeline McDowell?" asked a voice behind her.
She turned around... and saw two boys seeming to wait for her, one wearing boxing gloves and the other in a karate gi. "What do you want?"
"Can't you figure it out? We're here to go after the 'Templars', so we have to take you on along with your buddies."
"That doesn't make any sense, unless... Oh damn it," Evangeline ground out as the pair came at her, while:
