Mischief Fragment - Videogame: Hokage's clue [Episode 245199]

by Kestral

The tachi-style sword was bent, warped, and had obviously been inexpertly hammered back into something resembling its original shape.

"Why can't I just use the chakra sword?" complained Naruto.

Tenten listened intently but couldn't make out whatever the ghostly swordswoman was telling the boy. She edged closer, bit by bit, until both heads turned towards her and she realized that there really wasn't a point in trying to pretend she wasn't interested.

As she approached, she was better able to read the lips of the ghost as she spoke - the partial transparent thing making it more difficult.

"Saber wants to know if you can be my sparring partner, in return she'll give you trips and stuff," said the boy.

The ghost frowned and made a motion as if trying to bop him on top of his head.

"I mean, she'll give you TIPS," corrected Naruto.

"Oh?" Tenten said, looking at the serious-looking woman, who nodded back. "I guess not being solid would be a problem. We gotta get you a better practice sword first though."

Outside the game:

I'm surprised you were able to work out a summoning for me.

"I'm not called the Professor for no reason," said Hiruzen Sarutobi. "Why are you doing this?"

This in particular? the Being asked and then cocked his head. Do you know what worldrules are?

"Is this like mass equals force times acceleration?" asked Hiruzen.

Not quite. Those are Physical Laws. Worldrules are additional to that, guidelines that can be strained against or even bent - but tend to be as restrictive as Physical Laws. THESE are the ones for your universe.

"What?" asked the Third Hokage, staring around at them especially as he could read the text that had appeared to hang as if on invisible walls all around them.

Right. These in red are the ones that have been in place since the Ten Tailed Beast was summoned to your reality.

Hiruzen frowned further and further as he went, finally pointing to one section. "This is accurate?"

Yes. Demonic forces wrote those, essentially using a set of seal techniques on your world to enforce things continually getting worse. Now look at these, said the Being, causing golden writing to appear. As a bearer of Holy Chakra and purified as he is, these rules overwrite the other laws for those Naruto makes connections with. Those who enter into friendship with him, or other strong non-adversarial relationship, come under these rules as primary - overwriting the demonic worldrules.

"Ah," summed up Hiruzen Sarutobi.

So if he DOES become Hokage, his influence would then spread over the entire Land Of Fire, and so on and so forth, said the Being.

"Making these rules override these other rules for everyone within the Land Of Fire," speculated Hiruzen Sarutobi. "Interesting."

I get to pull a prank on not only this world, but will continue to have effects through the related subdimensions through the mutual Hell Dimensions, noted the Being.

"So this section in red," asked the Hokage, wanting to be absolutely clear he understood it, "states that 'All Love Shall Be Unrequited' while this subsection here indicates that if the love does become requited - 'one of the two involved will die tragically or go insane within a period not to exceed five years' would be replaced by the relevant section in gold?"

Yes.

"I see," said the Hokage, going to the appropriate section of glowing golden script. "You know it's really a pity I can't just hand the hat over now."

He's ten.

"True," said the Hokage. "I wouldn't expect a god of mischief to be this generous in love."

The classic love triangle, dodecahedron, and similar relationship snafus ARE a classic source of comedy.

"True," agreed the Hokage. "I was referring to section IV, paragraph 3."

Oh, I'm sure hardly anyone will qualify for THAT."

"You don't really know people that well," said the Hokage, smirking.
