"Are you sure that you didn't do something that would make his bunch want to harass us?" Setsuna murmured.
"Of course. He doesn't even seem familiar! Besides, when do those sorts of jerks need anyone to take a jab at?"
"That's true enough...."
"The way that I figure it, they heard about us, and decided to test us."
Setsuna scowled as she reluctantly nodded. "Reputations can be troublesome. And a lot of what comes from them depends on how people talk about you."
"But why would they pick us to go after?" Konoka asked.
"Unfortunately, we are as in the dark as you are."
"What need is information if we're going to deal with those jerks. Only we don't have any," the pigtailed boy bit out.
"Hmmm?" Kaede hummed, and then raised her brows at her Master. "Would you like me to collect the information for you?"
"If you could, that would be great. I don't know where you'd do that though."
"There are ways, and finding that sort of thing is my job."
"Then that will be wonderful, won't it?" Konoka murmured, and clapped her hands together. "Maybe the rest of the day will be nicer."
"Why wouldn't it be?" Setsuna asked her Mistress.
"Well, at least we won't be interrupted any more."
"Somehow, I doubt that."
"You worry too much, Secchan. Besides, I'm sure that there will be a lot more fun things to do in school."
"Perhaps. We have...." the sword wielder began... and then went wide eyed. "Classes! We still have class!"
"Don't want to be late on my first day," Ranma groaned, slapping a hand over his face.
"Then let's get going!"
Taking a quick look to make sure that they weren't the only students still heading to class, Setsuna led Ranma and Konoka off. The heiress merely giggled at her friend's anxiety, and the pigtailed boy rolled his eyes, but both followed in her wake. Kaede waited behind for a moment, quickly making some hand signs before nodding at the results and following her Master and the girls.
The shadow clone that the ninja girl left behind watched for a moment, and then headed off on her own mission.
Evangeline's gaze was flat as she fairly stalked down the walkway towards the school building. "Did you put me on that damned list too?"
"Of course not, Master," Chachamaru responded.
"Then why the hell did those brats think that they should try to take me on."
"I don't know, Master."
"What do you know?"
Tilting her head to the side, the artificial girl seemed to think about it for several seconds before answering. "It seems that someone is targeting you."
"Then they are going to learn that they have made a very big mistake."
It was quiet in the office, but then it usually was first thing in the morning, or as close to it as it could be. Those few students who had managed to get into trouble already had been taken care of, and usually were before morning came. On the other hand, there wasn't much time for any of them to cause a disturbance yet, so that was going to be a waiting game. After all, it was merely the first day of classes, and the staff just hadn't had a chance to compile anything on the school activities of the new students.
So, when one of the secretaries straightened up from behind a counter to face a girl in a ninja suit, she didn't even blink an eye. "I was wondering how long it would take one of you to show up."
The kunoichi merely raised a brow at her.
"A number of new arrivals arrive here sooner or later. The only question is why."
For a moment, the kunoichi was going to speak.
"Now, you could be looking for acceptance into this school, but who would do that?" the secretary commented, interrupting anything that her visitor was about to say. "Or you could be looking for someone in particular."
At this point, the kunoichi just seemed to be confused.
"But since the tournament arrangements were just announced, you are probably looking into that. Here. Take these papers, and they'll tell you about the general idea."
Kaede's shadow clone was just left blinking at the response... and the stack of papers presented to her, while:
