Cherry shook his head sadly.
"I wish the path for my vengeance would be clear to me!"
"Only once per person," the old priest reminded the vengeance-haunted emo-boy.
"EEP!" eeped Sakura as Sasuke was suddenly holding onto her shoulders and staring her right in the face.
"Sakura. Wish that my brother was struck down!"
"I wish that your brother was struck down?" tried Sakura uncertainly.
"It is rare for a wish to be given at all," pointed out Cherry as he stirred the contents of a pot. "Be glad you got that one."
"Do we even know that something actually happened?" asked Kakashi. "You wished that his 'curse of stupidity' lifted after all. And I don't think that was actually a curse."
"No, it was not, but it might as well have been," said Cherry. "I am a priest of the Chaotic Kitty after all. I know what actually happened. Comes with the job description."
"Oh? What happened?" asked Kakashi.
"Ignorance is not stupidity, so he still lacks knowledge, but he can remember things and read and process information," said Cherry with a shrug. "Oh, and the problem with his prisoner affecting his intelligence with the chakra problems. That was fixed too."
"A 'prisoner'?" asked Sakura. "What prisoner?"
"They don't know?" Cherry asked Kakashi.
"S-Class Secret," said Kakashi.
"Naruto has an S-Class secret regarding a prisoner?" asked Sakura. "What, did someone cut in front of him in a line to get ramen and he's torturing them in his apartment or something?"
Everyone, including a mouse that came out of a hole in the wall, stared at Sakura for a moment.
"What?" asked Sakura. "It's as likely as anything else."
Cherry shook his head. "With his enemies, his allies should know of his burden."
"Naruto has enemies?" asked Kakashi.
"I'm a priest of a god of trickery and chaos, with a child about whom both swarm," said Cherry, continuing to stir. "I've seen a few things. No names, unfortunately."
"Enemies?" prompted Kakashi. "I should know about this as I am his sensei."
Cherry stopped stirring and looked pointedly at the two conscious genin.
"Hey! We're already involved here!" said Sakura. "Like it or not, and mostly it's not, Naruto's on our team."
"Go ahead," said Kakashi after considering that and finally nodding.
"Very well," said Cherry with a shrug, stirring one more time and then pulling the ladle out. "Look."
Images began shifting across the surface of the soup.
"Can you move that potato, it's making it difficult to see the face there," noted Kakashi.
"What was that on the carrot?" asked Sakura. "Someone with a sword?"
"HIM!" yelled Sasuke, his calm brushed aside by rage as he unexpectedly saw his brother there.
"Black uniform with red clouds," noted Kakashi as he saw others wearing the same thing. "Can you pause and go back?"
"No, this is the only way I can get any reception at all," said Cherry.
"That Man is going to come after Naruto?" asked Sasuke as the images continued to play out.
"Yes, that's how I read it - if the 'him' you yelled about was the 'That Man' you are referring to," noted Cherry.
"Hnn," hnned Sasuke, considering the implications.
"So Naruto took Sasuke's enemy prisoner?" asked Sakura, trying to make sense of all this.
Sasuke snorted at the unlikelihood of such a scenario.
"I don't get notes on all this, you know," said Cherry. "Just what I see in the stew, and that's open to multiple interpretations. Even if I add carrots. Anyone want to buy an ema or fortune and check your luck that way?"
"I want to buy a romance fortune!" said Sakura.
The mouse came back so that everyone could stare at Sakura again.
"What?" repeated Sakura.
