Well, Setsuna had, and she was the one who wound up shaking the current redhead into wakefulness. "Ranma, we need to talk."
"Uh...Wha..," mumbled the pigtailed Saotome, "What's going on?"
"Are you feeling okay?"
"I think so. Uh... who are you?"
"Don't you recognize me?"
"Uh.. no... Hey! Wait a minute! You're one of my friends. Only not with feathers or fur or something. You jumped into the pool and..."
"Turned into girls? Exactly."
"B...but how?"
"Well, you see, it was a magical spring that we... fell into. all of the springs here are, and each one of them has something that drowned in them. And if anyone, or anything, falls into one, they turn into whatever drowned there."
"So what drowned in that pool was..."
"A young girl."
Ranma scanned the faces of the currently human members of his freinds and tried not to gulp. Which would most likely happen if he looked down further. Those in his clothing were testing the seams, and those in his father's, poor individuals that they were, had a fair amount of skin showing. "Ummm... so how do you know... how ta talk and stuff?"
Setsuna smiled and whated to tell him the truth, but there were problems with that. If she did, then he'd want to know how they kept their previous memories. Then she'd likely have to tell him about the Senshi and the related stuff, but it was a possibility that those things would never show up.
And to top it all off, they'd never get to snuggle with him again.
"We were special animals, remember? we just never had the ability to talk before."
"Oh yeah..."
"So, what else would you like to know?"
"Is it permanent?"
"Umm... no. Cold water makes us human, and hot water turns us back to our animal forms."
"At least we'll get to talk for real some times."
"Yes we will."
"It's just..."
"Yes?"
"I turn into a girl too, right?"
"Well, yes."
"So, why do I feel like there is something warm...onmychest..."
"Ehh... Ami is.. taking a nap between your..," a reddening Setsuna said.
"Ohh..," went an equally reddening Ranma, "But what about... y'know."
"Haruka's just laying her head on your lap again."
"Okay... but where's Pop?"
"We don't know."
"What?"
"He's run off again, but I'm sure that he'll turn up eventually."
"Oh, so what the heck do we do until then."
"Rest for now. And head out in the morning."
"Sounds good to me," Ranma agreed.
