"Yeah, Ojiisan!" said Naruto, giving a thumb's up and writing a couple of things out on a scroll then flipping it out. "Ice. Fire. Now..."
Naruto's hand slapped the white circle, leaving a bloody handprint from where he'd cut a finger and then smeared blood.
Again the runes he'd scribbled out flared to life, this time in a golden fire. When the other circles in the array were reached, they formed pillars of blue light.
Everything flickered and went out for a moment.
"Well," said a chunin nearby, sounding relieved. "Another failure from the failure..."
"Mizuki? Look up," Iruka advised the other chunin, before giving a grin and thumb's up gesture to Naruto.
Everyone who hadn't already, slowly looked up.
In the sky, a blue set of runed circles shifted to a stack of three. Then they broke apart as a streak of white appeared in the distance and approached quickly.
From the horizon to overhead in seconds, heralded by a volley of thunder. Then it appeared as it slowed to a stop, spreading wings before lowering itself to the ground.
"What I was able to read," said Jiraiya, revealing he'd arrived a bit earlier, "was 'Conquerer Of The Skies. Bahamut.' This last I take it is the name of... that."
"I so want one of those," said one of the other chunin.
Sasuke Uchiha, age twelve, the avenger whose life's goal was the destruction of his older brother and the replenishing of his clan.
He glared at the blonde clown who had just managed something that put his own accomplishments in deep shadow. THAT was something that HE needed. With it, he could have his revenge!
Instead that idiot had it.
If looks could kill, Naruto would not currently be scratching a large dragon under the chin.
Naruto was muttering under his breath, having gotten hit. Again. By a fangirl. Again. For not giving anything to Sasuke. Again.
"DAMNIT!" yelled Naruto at the sky. "Why can't I get a break here?"
Shiva shook her head, looking at Kiiromaru.
"Humans," said the yellow-furred dog. "They make things way too complicated."
"You know, if a girl liked ME, I'd get her a summons," said Naruto, mostly to himself. "But NO! They've all got to be after SASUKE SASUKE SASUKE!"
Kiiromaru cocked his head at Shiva. Shiva nodded. They both got up, ignoring Naruto's startled question, then walked off in different directions.
"What was all THAT about?" asked Naruto.
There was a startled female yelp, followed by Kiiromaru walking out of a set of bushes, carrying a young girl by his mouth clamped down on the collar of her jacket.
"Uhm, what's this?" asked Naruto. "I'm not giving anything to Sasuke you know."
"A-ano..." said the heavily embarassed girl, still dangling from someone's mouth.
"Hinata, right?" asked Naruto, wondering why she was here.
