Mischief Fragment - Wishcraft: Satsuki Uchiha, age seven [Episode 250261]

by Kestral

"Keep practicing your naginatajutsu and kunai, your father and I have clan business tonight," said her mother.

"Hnn," indicated Satsuki, then frowned. "Practicing by myself isn't any good. What about Itachi?"

"He's busy again," said Mikoto. "There's no one else you can practice with? Isn't there anyone you can get along with from your class?"

"Fight me."

"Uhm. Why?" asked Choji.

"Are you refusing to fight me because I'm a girl?" demanded Satsuki.

"No," answered Choji. "I'm refusing to fight you because I don't want to fight you."

Satsuki considered that. The Akimichi were supposedly fairly strong, and with Choji's superior size and reach - he would make a decent sparring partner. "How about if I insult you?"

"This is tiresome," said Shikamaru, getting up from where he'd been lazing back. You want someone to spar against?"

"You volunteering, lazybones?" asked Satsuki.

"Nah, way too much trouble," said Shikamaru, jerking his thumb off towards another area. "Naruto's usually trying to train."

"I was hoping for someone who'd actually be a challenge," retorted Satsuki.

"So?" asked Shikamaru. "You saying it would be a challenge to turn him into a challenge?"

"I'd think more impossible," said Satsuki, considering then shrugging. Finally she pointed at Choji. "You owe me a fight then!"

"When did I agree to THAT?!" protested Choji as the black-haired girl ran off.

"She's a girl. Don't try to figure out her logic, it won't do any good," said Shikamaru. "Let's go get something to eat. As long as it's not too troublesome."

"Did you just sic Satsuki on Naruto to get back at Naruto for that bit with the eraser?" asked Choji as they walked along.

"Who me? Go to that much trouble?" asked Shikamaru.

"Yeah," said Choji.

"Maybe."

outside space/time:

"AGGHHHH! Don't tell me Satsuki is going to be in love with me! That's gross!"

"She's not going to be in love with you," stated the cat-like being.

"NOOOO! I don't want to... oh," said Naruto as that penetrated.

"Nope," said the cat. "She's still going to go through the Massacre after all. Romance isn't going to be in her vocabulary for awhile."

"Oh crap. Can't it end up nicer? That really screwed him up when he went through that!" Naruto pointed at the split screen, one side of which showed Itachi drawing his sword and starting the night's grisly work.

"Okay, let's try this," said the cat.

"Why, big brother? Why did you KILL them? Mother... Father..."

"To measure my strength," said Itachi.

"It's one of those guy things I'm never going to understand, isn't it?"

Itachi paused and looked over his little sister. "No. That's not it."

"If you're having your period, I can kinda understand it, cause Aunt Naoko said that when she was having HER period - she just wanted to run around and get stabby."

"It's not..." said Itachi, wondering why he couldn't have a nice SANE little brother who would follow the script he'd worked out. Instead he had a little sister who could get downright bizarre.

"My name is Satsuki Uchiha. You have killed my mother, prepare to die!"

"No Princess Bride references," said Itachi. "Honestly. It's a martial arts thing. In order to become a truly powerful martial artist you have to do things which are horrible or great or both."

"Uh huh, well..." Satsuki considered things. "So this is where I cry an oath of vengeance and dedicate my life to carving you up like a Founder's Day roast?"

Itachi sighed and leaned against the wall. "Yes. Something like that."

"Okay. NOW Naruto!"

"Huh?" asked Itachi before a metal pail came swinging down out of the shadows. "When did-"

Satsuki had meanwhile launched herself with two kunai.

"Tsukuyomi," said Itachi, putting his little sister in genjutsu before reaching up into the shadows and pulling a little orange clad idiot out. "How did you manage to sneak in past my sight?"

"A good ninja never reveals all his secrets!" declared the orange-clad boy. All he'd wanted to do was play a prank, distracting the parents that Satsuki had been worried about due to her returning late. Now was his big chance to be a hero instead!

"You're not a good ninja though," pointed out Itachi, holding the boy at arm's length. "Oh bother. Look at the time. Tsukuyomi."
