This wasn't like the glancing blow to Sakura that would have occurred on a bridge facing Naruto in his transformed state.
Shamal's thought, having been hit once before and knocked through two buildings and then having to heal her own injuries, was entirely predictable. That she should back off and let the fighters wear down the beast before she got anywhere close to it.
That was her last thought for some time, as she was promptly thrown roughly four miles away and into unconsciousness.
Another tail touched a building. Chakra flowed into the building, then the entire thing was ripped from its foundations in order to use a skyscraper like a club against the flying swordswoman.
Vita swatted the young boy out of the way, marking his likely landing location so she could come back with Shamal. It was past time for dealing with that little brown-haired annoyance. "Gigant form!"
Graf Eisen repeated it, becoming a hammer several times bigger than the wielder. She swung at the mechanical airship, rewarded by the satisfying smash as it became wreckage arcing towards the ground.
Now she'd just deal with the kaiju.
At which point Fate was in Vita's face and she was trying to block Bardiche with Graf Eisen.
"Silver Moon Crystal Power, Make Up," said the girl with the long blonde ponytails.
"My turn," said the imposing guy in the black duster-style coat and the sunglasses. The sunglasses somehow managing to gleam in the shadows.
"Go, I'll build up the attack," said Eternal Sailor Moon as she produced the Eternal Tiare.
The figure nodded in acknowledgement, then simply started walking forward.
Mamoru Chiba had spent four years in American universities. In that time he'd become aware of a "magic underground" and had found some odd allies.
Some people took him for a gaijin in fact, as he made a gesture and formed a weapon.
He'd always favored weapons of precision, whether it was roses that he could throw with pinpoint accuracy or using his cane as a fencing sword. However, the first time he'd gone on a hunt with Monster Hunter International, he'd learned that other weapons were slightly more effective - especially when he could imbue them with his own magical power.
He wondered if Owen Pitt, one of those who fought the Darkness in those other battlefields, still used that oversized gun of his.
Disappearing from the street with a swirl of his duster (the tuxedo and cape tended to draw even more stares than the duster did) Mamoru Chiba was abruptly atop an office building a bit further away from the rampaging kaiju.
He settled his rifle into the appropriate position and aimed very carefully. The Heckler & Koch PSG1 was a well-maintained weapon, and wasn't particularly magical in and of itself.
No, it was the ammunition he imbued with magic - making them very similar to the roses he could still throw. It was just that you got a much better range and penetration with the bullets.
When they were kids, and he was facing a human-sized opponent, he would have put one of his armor-piercing rose throws into a hand or perhaps graze the forehead of the target.
His first shot went directly into the kaiju's right eye, which caused the creature to raise its head and howl in outrage.
At which point Mamoru Chiba put two more armor-piercing energy-disrupting rounds through the roof of its mouth.
"Sailor Mercury? Isn't she going to show up?"
"Ami-chan's in Todai, there's an exam tomorrow. She said she'll come if the entire world is in danger, otherwise she's got to study."
"Ami-chan is REALLY getting obsessed with her grades."
"She's always been obsessed about her grades."
"Okay, she's really getting MORE obsessed with her grades."
"Well, we can handle one lousy kaiju, right Jupiter?"
"Eh? I don't know. We've never actually tried to beat a kaiju have we? All of our menaces were a lot smaller."
"Hotaru couldn't make it either. She's caught a bit of a cold."
The light faded, but not entirely. Eternal Sailor Moon stepped forward as the kaiju roared in pain.
"You know, I'm still trying to get used to Mamoru after his trip to America," said Jupiter.
"First volley," said Sailor Venus. "Love and Beauty Shock!"
"Jupiter Oak Evolution!"
"Space Sword Blaster!"
"Mars Flame Sniper!"
The attacks went out. Tails were pierced. Explosions covered the head.
"Silver Moon Crystal Power!" declared Eternal Sailor Moon.
And a spear of white pierced its heart.
