Mischief Fragment: Cardmaster Naruto: Everyone Knows Its Windy [Episode 254009]

by Kestral

He had stared at that statue in the hallway for a time, then just suddenly KNEW what to do. The magical circuit to be written on the card, the jutsu that summoned the Spirit of the Wind.

And just like that, he had a new friend. A winged female who could control air and its movements.

So there was [Door], [Invisible], and [The Windy] cards with many more that he had a good chance of eventually being able to use. However, Naruto knew it wouldn't be that easy because he'd already tried to copy out [The Thunder] only to have it kick him around the hallway before returning to its statue.

He'd yelled at it that he'd get stronger and then kick its behind and show it who was boss. The Thunder had looked him in the eye, nodded, and returned to just being a stone statue.

So, now he knew. Some spirits, like Windy, would help him. Others he had to prove his strength to use.

Well, he was Naruto Uzumaki, and he was going to master ALL the cards! Dattebayo!

"So... Sasuke, maybe you'd like to get lunch after we meet our sensei?"

Sasuke snorted. "How long are you going to hide there?"

Sakura blinked. "Eh?"

"I was talking to Naruto," Sasuke informed her.

"Eh?" repeated Sakura.

The air in one corner of the room solidified into Naruto.

"Eh?!" repeated Sakura with more emphasis.

"How'd you know I was there? I thought I was being fairly careful," asked Naruto.

"You fidget when you're bored," said Sasuke. "The chair creaks."

"Y-y-you were here all the time?" asked Sakura. "Were you spying on me?"

"Practicing my Invisibility jutsu," said Naruto, frowning. "Still needs work."

"Hnnn," said Sasuke, nodding. At least Naruto understood the need for training and improving.

"Gotta get stronger," said Naruto.

"Hnnn," agreed Sasuke, thinking this was nice that Naruto might be a goofball but was dedicating himself to not being The Load. That was certainly promising.

"When did you learn a new jutsu?!" demanded Sakura.

Naruto saw a chance to impress Sakura, so took a card out of one sleeve and brandished it. "Windy!"

The card flared briefly, and a woman with two sets of wings flowed out of it.

"Windy! Our sensei is late, can you find him?"

Windy looked at Naruto for a few moments.

"Oh, you don't know what he looks like do you?" asked Naruto.

Windy shook her head slowly once, then vanished.

"A summons?!" asked a completely flabbergasted Sakura.

"Well, heck, how are we gonna... I'll bet this is a test!" said Naruto, unslumping with the revelation.

"A test?" asked Sakura, still trying to deal with Naruto having a summons and a stealth technique that she hadn't known about. They had to be lame though, as it had come from Naruto.

Naruto didn't mention that tests had been on his mind a lot lately since his encounter with Thunder. So he'd seen his encounter with Konohamaru the day before as a test as well. Well, as long as it wasn't a written test...

"Yeah, we're supposed to be genin now, right?" said Naruto. "That means we got to be able to find stuff and do all sorts of things besides just the stuff in the Academy. So we're obviously supposed to find our sensei since he didn't show yet."

Sakura considered that, glanced at Sasuke to see that HE was pondering that possibility himself, and allowed that maybe just because the idea came from Naruto didn't automatically make it a dumb idea. "Okay, but how are we supposed to find our sensei?"

"When we were selected as teams, we were given a name," mused Sasuke aloud. "Ours was 'Kakashi Hatake' and we were told he was a jonin."

"Right," said Sakura, standing up. This was her big chance to prove how useful she could be to Sasuke. "Information gathering is my specialty!"

"If you can find a picture of the guy, I can use Windy to find him!" Naruto promised.
