Sakura snapped the four sheets of paper out and immediately went to hand signs. "Rin, Pyo, To, Sha, Kai, Jin, Retsu, Zai, Zen!Akuryo Taisan!"
Sasuke saw the four sheets aiming towards him on different arcs and countered with small fireballs.
Kakashi turned a page in the book he was currently reading.
Seeing the fireballs heading her way, Sakura dodged and pulled another small scroll out. "Flame Ward!"
"She's getting a lot faster," commented Naruto.
"I suppose," said Kakashi.
"I suppose that gets expensive though," said Naruto. "She burns through those wards in seconds and they take hours to make."
"Well, technically, it's Sasuke who burns through them," pointed out Kakashi.
"Doesn't make it less expensive," countered Naruto.
Sakura rolled to her feet as she dodged another fireball, then reached into a different pouch, pulling four cards from there and throwing them. Again she went straight from her throw to a set of quick hand signs. The cards settled into the air and aligned themselves halfway between her and Sasuke. "Barrier technique! Iron Wall!"
Fire blasted out again, this time being turned away from the space that the cards were floating in.
"Oh, that's not bad," said Kakashi, actually looking up from his book for this.
"Considering her stance, she can't move from that spot without dropping the jutsu," said Naruto, noting how Sakura had now braced herself with her hands in the "Ram" seal.
"Every technique has its limitations," said Kakashi. "Ways around it, requirements for use, weaknesses that can be exploited, or something along those lines. Even your Dead Arts have their downside."
"Something I'm well acquainted with, Kakashi-sensei," said Naruto. "There is always a cost."
Sasuke sent a few more attacks at Sakura, testing the new defense. Shuriken and kunai seemed to clatter against something solid but invisible.
Sakura's visible concentration gave way to a grin. That vanished when a kunai with an explosive tag bounced off the barrier then did what explosive tags did.
The explosion scattered the cards and caused Sakura to sink to her knees.
"Match - Sasuke," said Kakashi.
"On the other hand, Sakura - you lasted nearly five minutes this time," encouraged Naruto.
"I still lost," said Sakura.
"Hmph," indicated Sasuke, offering a hand up which she took. "Better."
"I suppose," said Sakura, cheering up slightly.
"We..." began Kakashi, breaking off abruptly.
Naruto sighed as their team bonding time was cut short.
