“Well, nothing’s stopping us from sending out a kage bunshin and doing something else at the same time. They’re awesome like that. You know?” Naruko proudly stated with her arms crossed over her chest.
“That’s not… wrong.” Sachiko hesitantly admitted before giving a shrug. “If you’re doing that, though, we’re going to check my house to see if my mother is there.”
“Why are we doing that? Why not head to my mom?” The blonde questioned, narrowing her eyes at her rival.
Sachiko just looked smug as she explained, “Because all the Uchiha lived in the same district, like I still did. If you weren’t an orphan, would you be living in that apartment?”
Thinking about it, Naruko had to grudgingly admit the Uchiha was correct. The studio apartment she lived in was spacious for a single kid growing up, but not really viable for a small family.
“And as for the records, they only hold basic contact info. It wouldn’t have anything on our personality, since if someone got ahold of them they could use it to impersonate anyone.” The black haired girl continued on, this time directing her statement to Sakura.
Letting out a small sigh, Sakura nodded. “I guess you’re right. It would display Naruto’s new address if it changed, though.” She pointed out in her favor.
“True.” Sachiko accepted that fact with a nod. “But we’ll hold that in reserve for if we need it.”
Letting out her breath with a roll of her eyes, Naruko flashed through the hand seals for her jutsu, causing three kage bunshin to appear in puffs of smoke. Waving her hand towards the village proper, she stated, “Get to it, guys.”
“Right, Boss!” The three clones of the original girl stated with salutes before splitting off to go their own paths.
“Three?” Sakura asked with a raised eyebrow.
Naruko just waived off the concern. “Don’t worry, I sent them to different sections to just walk around. No one will even notice there are more of me than… me.”
“Right. So now we head to my house.” The onyx eyed girl stated, leaping into the trees to take the most direct route. The other two followed along a soon after.
“Wow, this is… different.” Naruko stated as the trio arrived at the Uchiha district.
Flicking her eyes towards the black haired girl standing completely ridged, Sakura hesitantly asked, “Sasuke? Are you okay?”
Sachiko didn’t respond to the question, silently looking out into the district which was bustling with people going about their daily lives.
None of the people were Uchiha, that was obvious, but were a mix of ninja and civilian. Old man Hachin’s tea house was open, with people relaxing and conversing under the overhang, but an unfamiliar woman was running it. Elsewhere, another unknown mother with long brown hair hung fresh washed laundry on a line while two young children ran around playing tag nearby, instead of being an empty house his Uncle Jiro died in.
All this activity brought back memories of how lively the district used to be, before that nightmarish day it all went wrong.
It felt good and wrong at all the same time to the young onyx eyed girl. Good because the empty district just kept reminding her about how her entire clan was gone. Wrong because it felt like all these people were invading and disturbing a sacred tomb.
“I’m fine.” Sachiko woodenly replied, crossing the threshold into the district and making her way towards her home.
Glancing around, trying to keep from looking awestruck, the trio noticed that other than a few waves and called greetings towards the Uchiha girl, which she silently nodded back to as to keep up appearances, no one really acted like anything was out of the ordinary.
“I guess that answers the whole ‘girl’ question.” Naruko quipped, holding her hands behind her head as she walked alongside her team.
Sakura just nodded, still giving concerned glances towards her now female crush. That difference was already filling her with many questions she kept pushing to the back of her mind.
After a few blocks of walking, they finally arrived at one of the largest houses in the district, fitting for the Clan Leader of the Uchiha Clan.
Looking over the house with a critical eye, Sachiko saw that it was basically the same as she’d always known it to be.
Swallowing the knot of feelings which had risen up with that realization, Sachiko stepped up and opened the front door, letting off an automatic, “I’m home!”
