Toltiir smiled as he gazed at the three dimension displaced genin looking with awe at the sight of Coruscant. Sending them to the planet-wide capital of the Star Wars universe might seem a bit like throwing them into the deep end of the pool, but that’s what made it so amusing.
“Some of these buildings go up higher than the clouds,” Naruto spoke, still clearly awed by the massive city. Even the Hokage Monument would be completely dwarfed by just about everything he saw.
Sasuke was starting to get over his amazement by now and formulating a plan of action. “This city looks like it stretches from horizon to horizon in every direction. It’s not gonna be practical to scout out this place on foot.” he was unaware how big an understatement that was, “First, we should try to find some information about what and where exactly this place is. We could look for a bar or someplace with lots of people and eavesdrop, see what we can overhear.”
“Maybe look for a library or bookstore too,” Sakura suggested, “There’s bound to be books that can tell us what we need to know,” her eyes suddenly lit up a she remembered the obvious, “Hey, did that fuuinjutsu book get transported with us? It might tell us how to reverse the effect and teleport us back!”
“Here it is!” Naruto exclaimed triumphantly, picking it up where’d it fallen. He immediately plopped himself down and began flipping through to the page that detailed the fuuin diagram he’d just drawn.
“Maybe, I should take a look,” Sakura suggested, only for Naruto to glare at her. She flinched back at the angry look he gave her, “Okay, fine,” she huffed, “Can I at least read along with you? I promise I won’t try and take the book,” she added.
Naruto grunted, but made room where he sat for Sakura to kneel down next to him. She did so and began reading over the text with him. Sasuke stood behind them, looking over their shoulders.
“It doesn’t say anything about how to go back,” Sakura moaned several minutes later.
“Maybe if I just drew it again, it’d send us back,” Naruto suggested.
“Or maybe it’ll just send us somewhere else,” Sakura replied.
“Do you have a better idea?” the orange-clad blond was clearly frustrated.
“Well… maybe there’s another seal in here that’s meant to be the return seal?” she suggested, flipping to the index.
“Sakura, check the rest of the book, while Naruto draws the seal again,” Sasuke said to her before turning to Naruto, “Just do what you did before and keep the last circuit open so it doesn’t activate prematurely. We’ll decide whether to use it or not once we make sure there are no other options.”
It was the best plan any of them could come up with, though Naruto was loath to admit it since it was Sasuke who suggested it.
“Just give my book back when you’re done, okay,” Naruto stressed as he reluctantly handed it to Sakura.
“I will,” Sakura promised. She did genuinely feel sorry about what happened earlier. As annoying as Naruto could be, it was clear she’d crossed a line without realizing it.
As the three genin set about their tasks, little did they know they’d already drawn attention to themselves.
