It was the nature of the item that when it fulfilled one wish, it would naturally move onto its next recipent. This was neccessary to allow for the eventual release of the genie, unless someone else got switched into said genie's place. Then it would wait until the new person finished his or her wishes, with the appropriate rules of course.

Once Nodoka had made her wish, the lamp made its way out of the Tendo Dojo to another place to be found by another person.It did not have long to wait as someone had found it in short order, and brought it home to try it out. Not that they really expected it to be real, but they would soon find out that it was.

Especially as they had just rubbed the lamp and were getting the beginning speech from the ditzy genie, which definately surprised:
