"Uh... yes, I work with the Major and Doctor Akagi..."
"Oh yes, why don't you come inside?"
"Why thank you," said the short-haired woman as she entered the apartment.
Closing the door behind her, the girl smiled. "You're welcome."
"May I ask a question... uh... um..."
"'Hikari'."
"Oh yeah, Hikari, uh... why are you dressed... Like... that."
"This?" Hikari pursed her lips in thought. She had to come up with something, but what? If she told the truth, it might be misunderstood and taken in a bad light. "It's a costume."
"Huh?"
"You know, it's a sort of dress up."
"You're into cosplay?"
"Something like that, yes."
"Okay..."
"Would you like a cup of tea or something?"
"Sure."
"Just a moment."
"Okay... what's that sound?"
"Hmmm?"
Maya looked towards the bedrooms. "Who's torturing a cat in there?"
"We would never do something like that."
"Don't you hear the yowls?"
"Oh. That? He's just got a pet kitty and he's playing with her at the moment."
"Is that so?"
"Yes it is."
With a frown, Maya considered her options before:
